Embracer Group is selling Arc Games and Cryptic Studios to Project Golden Arc for $30 million. Project Golden Arc is a new company formed by the current management team of Arc Games, and the purchase is being funded by XD, a publisher and developer based in Hong Kong.
As part of this agreement, Embracer Group will continue to publish games in the Remnant series. These rights will move to THQ Nordic, which is owned by Embracer Group and already owns the Remnant games and the development team, Gunfire Games. Arc Games will still be credited as a publisher on both Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant II.
Coffee Stain will continue to own the rights to the online game Fellowship, and Arc Games will still be listed as a partner in publishing it.
Embracer Group CEO Phil Rogers announced that a recent deal will help the company concentrate on its most important games and technologies, ultimately boosting profits and cash flow. He also stated that the online multiplayer game Fellowship, created by a Stockholm-based team, will now be part of Coffee Stain Group, providing it with a strong foundation for future development. Rogers expressed gratitude to the teams at Arc and Cryptic for their contributions over the past four years and wished them continued success.
Closing of the transaction is expected to take place as soon as customary conditions are fulfilled.
