Emmerdale airs devastating Marlon Dingle ‘death scenes’ in powerful April Windsor two-hander

Okay, so as a big soap fan, I was completely floored by the latest Emmerdale episode! It looked like Marlon Dingle – Mark Charnock plays him – was actually shot by Ray Walters, played by Joe Absolom. Seriously, a huge shocker! It definitely left me reeling and wondering what happens next.

The revelation followed a devastating confession from his daughter, April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan). She admitted that on Halloween, she killed a client of Ray and Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) who had paid to sexually abuse her.

April was already anxious about meeting Callum (Max Lohan), but she explained that she’d been in similar situations before and didn’t feel comfortable with it.

He had hired her for the entire evening and expected a full return on his payment, but he also assured her she was free to leave whenever she wanted.

April poured Callum a drink, then tried to leave. However, Callum had been dishonest and began to assault her. In a moment of panic, she defended herself by hitting him with a bottle of vodka, knocking him unconscious.

She told Ray and Celia that Marlon had been seriously injured, bleeding from the head. Though they offered to help cover things up – mostly to protect themselves – they threatened that any further trouble from her would have deadly repercussions for Marlon, his grandfather Bob Hope, and her boyfriend, Dylan Penders.

Tonight on the show, April visited Marlon at Smithy Cottage hoping to apologize and explain everything that had occurred.

They sat together with hot chocolate, sharing memories from her childhood. Finally, she was ready to tell him everything.

April began to cry and revealed that Ray and Celia had forced her and others into a dangerous criminal network involving drug dealing and sexual exploitation.

I was so relieved when Marlon finally said he wanted to make things right with his daughter. He promised her they’d gather everyone – the whole family and Dylan too – and then go straight to the police station where they’d be safe. It felt like a huge step towards getting things back on track.

Just as Marlon and his team started to act, Ray suddenly ran in and shot him. Marlon collapsed, dying before Amelia’s eyes.

It wasn’t the end after all! Everything from Amelia’s confession onward had actually been a dream, and Marlon was still alive and well.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I realized his death was just a terrible nightmare. I immediately pulled him close, holding him tight in a desperate embrace.

Will she ever find the bravery to speak up?
