Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) is incredibly stressed in Wednesday’s episode of Emmerdale (October 22nd) as he struggles to hide his secret relationship with his husband, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill).
Robert has managed to keep his rekindled relationship with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) a secret so far by asking Aaron to not tell anyone. This has also protected Kev, who isn’t ready to publicly share his own sexuality.
Now that Kev and Aaron have finally met, they’re both starting to realize Robert is acting strangely.
Robert saw that Kev’s knuckles were bruised and bleeding. Kev explained he’d confronted someone about a debt, saying it was something he took very seriously.
After Kev explained that misunderstandings happen and people often need to be gently corrected, Robert decided he didn’t want to break up with him.
Aaron warmly told Robert he was excited to finally be able to show their relationship publicly, even though Robert seemed nervous about it.
Throughout the week, Robert grows more worried about Kev’s increasingly hostile attitude. Things get worse when they run into a furious Matty Barton, who accuses Robert of not pulling his weight on the farm.
Kev was very angry, so Robert had to help him relax. They went back to Kev’s place and talked about why he gets so upset.
As Kev opens up about how he used his fists to survive inside, he begs Robert to stay by his side.
Despite Kev’s promises and efforts to change his behavior at the Woolpack, Robert’s complicated lies are quickly falling apart, leading to the usual level of drama.
