Emmerdale Christmas and New Year spoilers: Your day-by-day guide as Robert Sugden vanishes

This Christmas and New Year, Emmerdale promises plenty of drama as Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden find themselves the targets of a mysterious attacker.

It was wild – car windows were shattered, trees were set alight, and then, during all the excitement, Robert just vanished. I keep wondering, though… who was that person?

Charity Dingle’s secret is about to be revealed, and Ray and Celia are getting ready to run away.

Here’s everything happening in Emmerdale between Monday 22nd December and Friday 2nd January.

Emmerdale episode guide for Christmas and New Year

Monday 22nd December – 30-minute episode at 7.30pm

Lydia accidentally lets slip that she and Sam were involved in Kim’s accident. Sam is furious and rushes to Home Farm to fix things with her, only to discover she’s cancelled their Christmas dinner plans, leaving him shocked.

Completely alone, she feels more and more cut off from everyone. After a fall leaves her unable to get up, she cries out for assistance. Lydia responds, and despite Kim’s attempts to send her away, Lydia insists on staying. Elsewhere, as Ray and Celia get ready to leave the village, Bear worries about being left behind. Ray promises he won’t be, but he’s also troubled by the thought of having to abruptly end things with Laurel.

Bear urges him to enjoy life and his current happiness to the fullest. Ray, inspired, plans a pretend Christmas lunch with her, and during their conversation, he allows himself to hope for a real Christmas with her in the future.

Ross is stunned to learn Aaron and Robert want to reconnect with Seb. He worries about seeing him regularly in the village, and tensions quickly rise between them.

Aaron was shocked and angry to discover his car windshield was broken, and he immediately blamed Ross. But he doesn’t know the truth: someone else is responsible, and they’re hiding nearby.

There’s exciting news: a proposal has been made, and Sarah and Jacob are planning a party to celebrate and reveal the gender of their baby.

Tuesday 23rd December – 30-minute episode at 7pm

Lydia has decided to stay with Kim, and Kim can’t change her mind. Meanwhile, Jacob is making plans for his party with Pollard.

Robert and Aaron are unaware of the danger heading their way, even as Aaron tries to confront Ross about a series of problems they’ve been experiencing. Someone sets fire to a tree near Mill Cottage, but Ross has a solid alibi.

Later, Robert discovers who is behind the attacks, but will he be able to stop them?

Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24th December – 30-minute episode at 6.55pm

Joe tries to make up with Kim, but she rejects him, leaving him feeling isolated. Aaron and Robert are worried about the consequences that might follow.

Christmas Day, Thursday 25th December – Hour-long episode at 6.15pm

Christmas morning begins cheerfully with villagers enjoying mulled wine by The Woolpack. Meanwhile, Aaron is puzzled when Robert unexpectedly leaves, and he grows worried as Robert doesn’t come back.

Kim is at Home Farm, looking at pictures of loved ones she’s lost. She’s preparing to spend the day by herself.

Paddy is worried because Bear is still missing, especially now when they need each other most. Meanwhile, life remains harsh for the workers on Celia’s farm, as they continue their difficult daily routine.

Vanessa and Charity unexpectedly find themselves celebrating Christmas as a duo. Everyone worries Vanessa might reveal secrets after having a bit too much to drink. Meanwhile, Charity enjoys a cozy night with Mack, completely unaware of the trouble heading their way.

Elsewhere, at the graveyard, Claudette and Jimmy remember those villagers that have passed away.

Boxing Day, Friday 26th December – Hour-long episode at 6.30pm

Marlon is very worried because his family is in danger. A major decision needs to be made, and it’s unclear what it is or who it will affect.

Elsewhere, Jacob is not a happy man.

Monday 29th December – 30-minute episode at 7.30pm

A dangerous threat hangs over the village, and Jai knows more than he should. He’s facing a difficult choice: reveal what he knows and potentially put others at risk, or stay silent.

April unexpectedly finds something out and is eager to assist, but Charity unintentionally creates more problems for herself.

Tuesday 30th December – 30-minute episode at 7.30pm

April realises that she has nowhere left to turn and wants to make an escape plan. Will it pay off?

The threat to life is imminent, as wedding plans are considered.

New Year’s Eve, Wednesday 31st December – 30-minute episode at 7.30pm

Ray receives a terrible assignment, and someone in the village remains in grave danger, though they don’t know it.

As fireworks fill the skies over Hotten, it’s a dramatic end to 2025.

New Year’s Day, Thursday 1st January – Hour-long episode at 7pm

2026 gets off to a sinister start, with a happy surprise triggering another level of danger.

After finishing the difficult and unpleasant job, Ray is hopeful that he and Laurel will one day be able to live happily together.

Friday 2nd January – 30-minute episode at 7.30pm

The first week of the new year ends with a dramatic showdown and a shocking revelation.
