Emmerdale exit revealed for long-running character after over 20 years in popular role

A popular character on the TV show Emmerdale will be killed in a dramatic storyline later this year.

As a longtime fan of the show, I was really shocked to hear that Jimmy King – Nick Miles has played him brilliantly since 2004 – is going to die. It’s going to be a truly heartbreaking moment, especially for his family on screen. I’m expecting a really emotional storyline.

Jimmy first came to town with his father and brothers, and has transformed over the past 22 years from a tough, wealthy businessman into a fun-loving family man. He now co-owns the Home James trucking company, but you’ll often find him relaxing at the Main Street Café with his wife, Nicola Wheeler.

He’s leaving around the same time as his ex-wife, Sadie (Patsy Kensit), who is coming back this week.

TopMob knew he was leaving and understands Miles is still filming in Leeds for the show. Viewers will continue to see Miles on screen until fall.

As you’d expect from a dramatic soap opera, this shocking event will put several characters in danger and have significant consequences for everyone in the town.

Emmerdale’s producer, Laura Shaw, hinted that Sadie’s comeback would be dramatic and surprising, potentially suggesting bad news for Jimmy.

We’re delighted to have Patsy Kensit rejoin the show, and we’re especially excited to see the return of her famous character, Sadie King.

Kensit expressed her excitement about returning to Emmerdale, sharing that she fondly remembers her time on the show and truly enjoyed playing the character of Sadie King.

Everyone involved with the show is fantastic, and I’m thrilled to be back – it’s a wonderful experience.

The Sun newspaper first reported tonight that Miles is leaving, and we’ve confirmed the story is accurate.

According to a source, after the decision was made for Nick’s character to exit the show, the writers determined he wouldn’t simply leave his family. They ultimately decided to write him off by killing him.

“That’s what made them approach Patsy about returning.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
