Oh my gosh, I’m still reeling from the latest Emmerdale! It’s awful – there was a huge fight, and Laurel Thomas, played by Charlotte Bellamy, was actually knocked unconscious… by her own son, Arthur! Alfie Clarke is doing such a good job portraying the drama, but it’s just heartbreaking to watch. I can’t believe what happened!
But how did they find themselves in such a predicament?
For weeks, a mother and son have been arguing. She upset him with her reaction after learning Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) had manipulated children into selling drugs and forced people to work against their will on his farm.
Laurel understood that Ray was also a victim, having been drawn into crime as a teen by the manipulative Celia Daniels. However, Arthur wouldn’t accept that Ray could be a good person and was determined to get revenge.

Ray eventually subdued the teenager, but not before he grabbed a bag of cash from the car. He’s used the money to buy a new phone and sneakers, and is now saving up for a trip to Australia.
When Laurel found out about his unexpected good fortune, she became incredibly angry. She took the money back from him, and in the ensuing argument, she slapped him.
Arthur tried to use this information to pressure his mother, but immediately wished he hadn’t. After that, things returned to normal.

Today, he found out she’d visited Ray’s memorial – the chapel of rest – to say goodbye and find peace. She was with vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) and Ray’s killer, Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards).
The villagers had mixed feelings about Bear being back, with some worried it would make his dependence on the captor even stronger. Paddy Dingle, his son (played by Dominic Brunt), was especially upset and strongly criticized Laurel for what he saw as her recklessness.

The two, fortunately, made amends – though it wasn’t the end of her turmoil.
A new argument between Arthur and Ray happened because Arthur wanted to see Ray, and Ray told her to back off. When Laurel told Ray to act more maturely, he shoved her, causing her to hit her head on the bottom step of the stairs.
He stood frozen over her lifeless body, as the weight of his actions began to sink in.
Will Laurel be ok?
