Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt reveals two-hander episode between Paddy and Marlon Dingle

Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) is keeping a mammoth secret in Emmerdale.

The popular character, usually known for being well-behaved, saw Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) kill Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) last month. Since then, they’ve been carefully planning a way to hide what they witnessed.

Once Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) had disposed of the body, he immediately drove his father to a secluded cottage. There, they began to strategize how to help him readjust to normal life after being held captive by Ray and Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths).

But when Bear wandered off, Caleb and Ruby Miligan (played by William Ash and Beth Cordingly) soon found him and called the police.

Since then, there have been a few tense moments, with Paddy cautiously staying near Bear, worried that Bear might accidentally reveal he was capable of killing someone.

He’s having some success, but he’s constantly worried the police will question him. He tries to appear calm and in control, but it’s not very convincing.

He went on to say that he believes the person thinks this difficult situation will simply resolve itself, with no one held accountable, and eventually be forgotten like a local rumor.

Like all soap operas, this storyline has to ultimately teach a lesson. He’s terrified everything will fall apart, and honestly, I believe it does. I’m certain of it, actually – I know what happens for the next two weeks.

Regarding what’s next for his character, Brunt shared that he turns to his wife, Mandy, for support. Actress Lisa Riley recently hinted she quickly resumed filming after appearing on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and will be back on television around mid-February.

“He definitely confides in Mandy,” he revealed.

There’s an upcoming episode planned with just Mark and me, where we’ll really open up and reconnect. It’s great because we’ve been friends for over thirty years, and it’ll be a chance to show that bond.

“So that’ll be really great, I’m looking forward to that.”

As a long-time viewer, I’ve really appreciated seeing Paddy and Marlon lean on each other – especially since they both started going to that men’s mental health group in the village. Honestly, I’m expecting things to get really tough for Marlon as this storyline progresses. I think we’ll definitely see the emotional strain start to seriously affect his health and wellbeing, and it’s going to be heartbreaking to watch.

“He’ll probably just collapse and it’ll hit him then,” Brunt concludes.

Right now, he’s really struggling with guilt and feels responsible for what happened to his father. He’s determined to prioritize his son, Dylan, and ensure he has a bright future.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
