Emmerdale’s Kev Townsend threatens Liam Cavanagh after shocking health admission

Dr. Liam Cavanagh, played by Jonny McPherson, is the newest Emmerdale resident to have a run-in with Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill).

We first encountered Kev when he came looking for his husband, Robert Sugden. He’d been temporarily released from prison because of a serious heart condition, hoping to spend his remaining time with Robert in the countryside.

However, things didn’t go quite as planned. Robert had started seeing his ex-husband, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), again, which meant they had to postpone their plans to reconnect.

Kev told his partner, Suggers, that if he remained with him for life, he would receive his entire estate. He also sternly warned Aaron to not interfere in their relationship.

After realizing Robert had chosen Kev instead of him, Aaron has been noticeably upset and has been walking around the village looking downcast for the past two weeks.

Today on the show, Kev was getting ready to renew his vows with Robert and happily shared his excitement with everyone in the village.

Isabel Hodgins, playing Vic Sugden, urged Aaron to tell Rob how he truly felt, warning him that he was running out of time. Aaron listened and went to Keepers Cottage to talk to Rob.

They embraced, completely oblivious to the fact that nearby, Kev was having a heart attack. Liam quickly helped him and insisted he go to the hospital, then hurried to tell everyone at Keepers what had happened.

Since Kev was one of his patients, he couldn’t share private details about his health. Hidden from view, Aaron asked Robert if he knew how serious Kev’s condition really was.

Robert knew it was fatal, but there was clearly more to the story than met the eye.

Now that Liam had left, Robert assured Aaron he would eventually tell Kev the truth, allowing them to be together. However, he first needed to proceed with the contract renewal.

Aaron was heartbroken as he overheard Kev and another person declaring their love for each other at church. It was a relief to see Kev doing so well, especially after his recent health scare.

Liam noticed this too, at the small get-together Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) hosted at The Woolpack later. He caught Kev alone in the bathroom and questioned whether he’d been completely honest with Robert about what was wrong with him.

Naturally, he hadn’t. Liam explained that Kev’s recovery wouldn’t take just a few months—it could take decades if he stuck with the proper treatment plan.

He wanted to keep the information secret, so he asked Liam not to tell Robert about it.

What will Liam do, and how long will it inevitably be before someone else finds out?
