Sofía Vergara’s night took a detour.
The former star of *Modern Family* announced she couldn’t attend the 77th annual Emmy Awards on September 14th because she had to go to the emergency room.
The actress from *Griselda* shared on Instagram on September 14th that she had to go to the emergency room instead of attending the Emmys. She posted a picture of her swollen, red eye and explained she had to cancel her appearance due to a severe allergic reaction just as she was leaving for the event.
Sofía, 53, posted videos from the emergency room showing her in apparent pain, and another clip of her attempting to treat her allergic reaction by rinsing her face in a sink.
Even though Sofía couldn’t be at the event – she had a second knee surgery back in July – she still managed to send the most lovely and supportive message. It just goes to show you don’t need to be physically present to radiate positivity and good vibes! As someone who prioritizes wellness, I always say a positive mindset is half the battle, and Sofía clearly embodies that.
I seriously lost it when I saw Terry Crews tweeted ‘Oh no! Get well soon!’ – he’s such a sweetheart! And Snoop Dogg?! He just left a whole bunch of praying hands emojis! I’m living for their support, honestly. It just proves how much everyone loves them!
Sofía didn’t receive any nominations at the awards ceremony, but she did appear as one of the presenters. Other presenters included Angela Bassett, Colman Domingo, Sydney Sweeney, Kristen Bell, and several others.
Sofía wasn’t the only recognizable person missing from the event. Eric Dane from *Euphoria* was also scheduled to present, but he couldn’t attend following his diagnosis with ALS in April. Instead, his *Grey’s Anatomy* colleague, Jesse Williams, presented the award for Outstanding Directing in a Drama series by himself.
Despite a few absent celebrities, the TV industry’s biggest night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles still drew many of the most famous stars.
