The story-driven game Dispatch, available on PlayStation 5 and PC, is a hit! Developer AdHoc Studio announced that the game has now sold over two million copies, thanks to all episodes being released.
The game’s developer shared on social media that they’re disappointed about the lack of new episodes this week, but grateful to the 2 million players who have joined the game so far. They emphasized that the game wouldn’t be where it is without player support. The team previously announced one million copies sold on November 3rd, meaning sales have doubled in just over two weeks.
Even a week after the last episode came out, the game is still very popular on Steam, with over 26,000 people playing in the last 24 hours. This includes both new players discovering the story and returning players exploring different choices and endings.
AdHoc Studio is considering making a second season of their game because it’s selling much faster than expected – about three years ahead of their original projections. “I’m honestly surprised by how well it’s doing,” said executive producer Michael Choung in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz.
Last week, we published our review of Dispatch for the PS5, after having played all eight episodes. We gave it a score of 8/10, and concluded that while the gameplay is limited, it’s a well-paced, consistently engaging superhero story with surprisingly mature themes.
