Episodic Sensation Dispatch Will Be Eligible for The Game Awards 2026

The creators of the popular game Dispatch, a team called AdHoc Studio, have been told their next game is likely to be eligible for consideration at The Game Awards in 2026.

This story-focused game, a funny look at a team of unusual superheroes working together, was nominated for Best Debut Indie at The Game Awards 2025. However, because of eligibility rules, it couldn’t compete in most other award categories, even though it was released in 2025.

It seems Dispatch wasn’t considered for The Game Awards because of when its episodes were released – the release schedule fell outside the voting window for the jury.

Pierre Shorette from Eurogamer and AdHoc explains they were only halfway through development when people started voting. He finds it remarkable – and a little crazy – that the game was nominated for Best Debut Indie based on an incomplete version. Essentially, voters were judging the game before it was finished.

Because the game wasn’t released in time for the nomination deadline, jurors didn’t have a chance to play it, and Dispatch lost out on several possible awards. “We were disappointed when the nominations were announced, as we hoped to be recognized alongside other great games,” Shorette explained.

Despite the lack of attention so far, there’s a chance the game could be featured at the 2026 show. According to Shorette, Geoff Keighley has indicated they now meet the requirements for consideration since the game is fully released. However, Shorette isn’t sure if anyone will actually be interested in seeing it featured.

It remains to be seen whether the strong reception and influence of Dispatch since its release will be enough to earn it a nomination at The Game Awards next December.
