Erika Ishii is passionate about both video games and Dropout TV, and dreams of one day directing a video game for Dropout.
Since 2017, Ishii has consistently worked as an actor in video games. They recently received a nomination at the Golden Joystick Awards for their role as Atsu in Ghost of Yōtei.
Most people probably recognize them from web shows like Critical Role, LA by Night, and popular series on Dropout, including Dimension 20, Game Changer, and Dirty Laundry.
We spoke with Ishii on the Golden Joysticks red carpet and asked them to pick between video game voice acting and their popular web series, but they refused to choose!

They explained that the best thing about being open to all possibilities is not having to limit themselves. ‘I want everything, and I can have it!’ they said. ‘All kinds of relationships, experiences – I don’t have to pick and choose.’
It’s not a difficult choice – it’s the perfect option! I realize that might seem like avoiding the question, though. What I’d really love is to collaborate on games with the team at Dropout.
I believe they have huge potential and could achieve great things. They’ve suggested they’re expanding back into scripted shows and animation, so it makes sense they might also explore video games.
Dropout launched in 2018 and grew out of CollegeHumor, the popular online comedy group famous for its sketch videos.
So, after Sam Reich, who used to run CollegeHumor, took over, the company really changed things up. They’re making their own shows now – things like live tabletop RPG games, improv, and game shows like ‘Game Changer’. It’s awesome because they have a bunch of different comedians and performers, including Ishii, showing up in everything.
Although the details of Ishii’s Dropout game are still unknown, he didn’t hesitate to make a request of Sam Reich right on the red carpet: “Sam Reich, I want to direct a Dropout video game!”
Your move, Sam.
