Erin Bates’ husband Chad Paine is still looking for answers about her frightening medical ordeal.
Visibly emotional, the 38-year-old spoke about his wife’s recent health issues after giving birth to their seventh child, Henry Blythe Paine, in August.
Honestly, the past three weeks have been absolutely crazy! As a big fan, watching Chad share his experience on YouTube, I was really struck by how he described it – something he never could have imagined happening. It’s been such a whirlwind for everyone involved, and it’s amazing to witness.
Chad, who married a star from *Bringing Up Bates* in 2013, also thanked viewers for their support during this difficult time for his wife.
We’ve really felt the support of everyone’s prayers, and I know they’ve helped us cope with this difficult time. It’s been a really challenging experience.
Chad, who shares six children – Carson (10), Brooklyn (8), Everly (7), Holland (5), Finley (3), and William (22 months) – with his wife Erin, shared that their family still needs support and prayers. Erin continues to face complications, including loss of function in her right leg.
Chad said the doctors are unsure what’s wrong. While they’re optimistic about recovery, they haven’t been able to pinpoint the cause of the ongoing issues, and his family continues to ask for prayers.

Just after giving birth to her baby, Erin, 34, became critically ill and was admitted to the ICU. She developed a serious urinary tract and kidney infection which led to septic shock. Her husband, Chad, revealed that she had suffered a prolonged and severe seizure earlier in the month.
Thankfully, Erin and Henry were released from the hospital on September 13th. Although the new mother faces a lengthy recovery, she expressed gratitude for all she has.
She and Chad shared on Instagram that they’re focusing on gratitude, especially for being reunited.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in *12 Years a Slave*, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids-non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus-in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
She explained that growing up, many of us are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. This often leaves us dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

Okay, so I’m hearing from Riley Keough, the amazing actress from *Daisy Jones & The Six*, that she recently had to be hospitalized. It turns out she had a hernia – basically a little gap in her abdominal muscles – and the surprising culprit? Tight pants! It just goes to show, even celebrities aren’t immune to the dangers of uncomfortable clothing. It’s a good reminder for all of us to prioritize comfort and listen to our bodies!
Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) asking why she hadn’t tweeted in a while. Suki jokingly replied, explaining she’d been secretly dealing with a hernia caused by wearing very tight pants six months ago and was afraid to mention it.

The former star of *Beverly Hills, 90210* shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to repair a nearly ruptured appendix.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the *In Depth With Graham Bensinger* podcast in 2025. “I experience spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation-they said I could have died within the last year.”
He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying, “My body has some quirks and isn’t quite working perfectly.”

A former contestant on *The Bachelor* went to the hospital in extreme pain, saying he literally had to crawl because his back hurt so badly. The pain flared up during a road trip with a friend while they were traveling in an RV.
He described a strange tingling sensation that still lingered in his legs as of March 2025, sharing this on his *Trading Secrets* podcast. To give some context, he mentioned that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds. Now, he can’t even do a squat, can’t balance on one leg, and falls over, describing the feeling as if he’d had a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In February 2025, the former *Even Stevens* star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a clay pigeon shooting trip when the incident occurred.
In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Brendan Rooney quickly helped her, evaluating her injuries and getting her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet came dangerously close to her right eye – less than an inch away.
I was really worried to hear about what happened, but Ron Stoppable – I mean, Will Friedle – explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind his eye. Surgery is too dangerous right now, so doctors are going to keep a close watch on him, but thankfully he says he can still see perfectly fine! It’s scary, but I’m sending all my best wishes for a full recovery.

She urged everyone to hug their loved ones often, emphasizing the importance of appreciating every moment.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and facing criticism online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she’d received steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She wouldn’t have known about the condition without the online commentary. Thankfully, doctors determined she had a type of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, which she shared was “the greatest news imaginable.”

During a game in December 2024, an AHL player was accidentally cut in the face by another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches. In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although these symptoms eventually subsided, she went to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors discovered she had experienced a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), caused by a small blood clot in her brain. Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot had traveled through this hole and to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on one side. He also shared it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well, saying it had been a frightening experience, but he was going to be okay and she was thankful he was fine.

He explained that while in Atlanta, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin. Before he could take it, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he’d had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show, describing the experience as feeling like ‘dying’.
She shared on the show *Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser* that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but she then saw light, leading her to realize she had died that day.
Oh my god, she said her body was *actually* failing! Like, her organs were just giving up. She didn’t even know what was happening – it turned out she had this thing called rhabdomyolysis, and apparently, that’s your body’s way of screaming, ‘I’m done!’ It’s terrifying, honestly. I can’t even imagine going through that.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the series, she experienced a severe headache during a workout, quickly followed by intense pain and vomiting. She realized something was seriously wrong, suspecting brain damage.
A hospital scan revealed she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, describing the pain as excruciating. During her recovery, she temporarily lost her ability to speak, often muttering incoherently.
After a week, her speech returned, and she was discharged from the hospital a month later. However, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown, requiring a second surgery. This procedure initially failed, causing a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia reports she has now made a full recovery and is doing well.

Determined to find answers, Woodley combined traditional medical care with holistic approaches, drawing on her background in herbalism. This search for well-being lasted for a decade.
The physical discomfort led to emotional challenges, including fear of food and issues with body image and identity. However, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now happy to report that she is fully recovered and healthy.
