Nintendo is releasing enhanced versions of its popular games alongside the new Switch 2. Some titles, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, offered upgrades for a fee at launch. Others, such as Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, received free updates instead of completely new versions. However, not all of Nintendo’s first-party games have a Switch 2 upgrade available right now.
Wondering which Nintendo games are getting upgrades for the Switch 2? We’ve compiled a list of games already released or planned for the new console. We’ll also tell you how much each Switch 2 version or upgrade costs and what new features it offers, so you can decide if it’s worth it. Here’s a complete rundown of first-party Nintendo games with Switch 2 editions as of late 2025.
6) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Since the new Switch 2 console came out, a version of Breath of the Wild has been available for it. If you already own Breath of the Wild on a standard Switch, you can upgrade to the Switch 2 version for $10. If you don’t own the game yet, the full Switch 2 edition costs $69.99.
What makes the Switch 2 version of Breath of the Wild different? It runs better, with quicker loading, smoother gameplay, and sharper graphics. Plus, it includes the Zelda Notes app, which is only available on the Nintendo Switch.
5) The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Similar to Breath of the Wild, this new Legend of Zelda game was designed for the Switch 2 from the beginning. Players who already own the game on the original Switch can upgrade for $10. New copies for the Switch 2 will cost $79.99, placing it among Nintendo’s latest $80-priced titles.
These improvements are similar to those made in Breath of the Wild. We’ve focused on making the game run better with faster loading, smoother performance, and higher resolution. Plus, players can use the Zelda Notes feature through the Nintendo Switch app.
4) Super Mario Party Jamboree

No Nintendo console is complete without Mario Party, and Switch 2 is no exception! While a brand new Super Mario Party game isn’t available yet, Super Mario Party Jamboree has been updated for Switch 2. You can get an upgrade pack with Jamboree TV for $19.99, or purchase the full game for $79.99.
This new version of the Switch 2 includes some exciting additions! You’ll get exclusive access to the Jamoree TV game show DLC, plus new mini-games that take advantage of the Joy-Con 2 controller and the Switch 2’s built-in microphone. A cool feature is the ability to use the Switch 2 camera to see your friends’ reactions while playing Mario Party Jamboree online. Plus, the game now looks even better with improved resolution.
3) Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Similar to Super Mario Party Jamboree, the Switch 2 version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land includes special downloadable content only available on the new console. This upgrade costs $19.99, or you can purchase the complete Switch 2 edition of the game for $79.99.
Playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land on the Switch 2 will offer improved graphics and smoother gameplay. The upgrade primarily focuses on the new Star-Crossed World downloadable content, which adds a fresh story, exciting new abilities called Mouthful Modes, and more adventures to enjoy.
2) Animal Crossing: New Horizons (January 2026)

A new version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Switch 2 has been announced! It will be available on January 15th, 2026, alongside a major free update (version 3.0). Upgrading to the Switch 2 version costs just $4.99, and a brand new copy for the Switch 2 will be priced at $64.99.
If you’re considering upgrading to the Switch 2 version of New Horizons, you’ll notice several improvements. The game will have better graphics and load much faster. It also adds features like voice chat and the ability to share in-game photos. Decorating will be easier with new mouse controls using the Joy-Cons, and you can now use your microphone with a megaphone to call specific villagers. Plus, online sessions will support up to 12 players, but everyone needs to be playing the Switch 2 version.
1) Super Mario Bros Wonder (Spring 2026)
The popular game Super Mario Bros. Wonder is planned to receive an upgrade for the upcoming Switch 2 console in Spring 2026. While details are still limited, we know the upgrade will include an expansion called Meetup in Bellabel Park, adding multiplayer features and mini-games. Based on previous similar releases, this upgrade is likely to be available for around $19.99.
