2025 has been a challenging year for Shonen Jump+, with several series being canceled as readership and viewership numbers decline. Launched in 2014, Shonen Jump+ is a digital platform from Shueisha known for hosting globally popular manga like Dandadan, Spy x Family, and Kaiju No. 8. Because shonen manga—aimed at young male audiences—is so competitive, Shonen Jump+ often features the most promising new series. However, the platform isn’t limited to action-packed stories; there’s a wide variety of manga waiting to be discovered, including romance, which can be especially popular when easily accessible through digital platforms.
The popular manga series Blooming Love by Daichi Kawada recently announced its final release date. The news came from @WSJ_status on X, a well-known source for updates on Shonen Jump series. While Blooming Love isn’t a mainstream hit, it has a loyal following who were surprised by the abrupt announcement. Typically, Shonen Jump manga give readers advance notice of their upcoming conclusion, but that didn’t happen this time. However, the series isn’t expected to be cancelled outright, as it’s been well-received and has been consistently published bi-weekly since its 2023 debut.
What Is the Plot of Blooming Love?

The story centers on Shintaro Ibuki, a high school student and art club member who’s tasked with building school equipment. While working, he notices a girl watching him intently. She offers helpful advice, quickly showing him the right way to use the tools and even finishing his work with impressive speed, leaving him stunned. Though Shintaro is skilled at art, she clearly excels at crafts. He’s amazed by her talent, but puzzled by her reluctance to show him her sketchbook. Despite their different strengths, they begin collaborating on projects, each helping the other overcome their weaknesses.
A sweet romance quickly develops between the two characters, almost before they notice it themselves. The story is planned to conclude in chapter 58, which will be released on December 1st, 2025 (December 2nd in Japan). While six volumes of the manga have been published in Japan, they haven’t been translated into English yet. However, you can currently read the series on the official Manga Plus app.
