Every MCU Character Who Has Held All 6 Infinity Stones

Since the release of *Avengers: Infinity War* in 2018, twelve characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been shown possessing all six Infinity Stones. These stones were central to the MCU’s ‘Infinity Saga,’ appearing in numerous films as incredibly powerful and dangerous objects. The culmination of this storyline occurred in *Infinity War*, when Thanos became the first character to collect all six stones and used them to eliminate half of all life.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe features six incredibly powerful stones: the purple Power Stone, the red Reality Stone, the yellow Mind Stone, the green Time Stone, the orange Soul Stone, and the blue Space Stone. The Space Stone first appeared after the credits of the 2011 film *Thor*, and all the stones have caused trouble for heroes throughout the MCU. While they’ve rarely been all together, twelve characters have briefly possessed all six Infinity Stones.

12) Thanos

Thanos, the powerful villain known as the Mad Titan, was the first being to collect all six Infinity Stones. He believed that wiping out half of all life was the only way to save the universe, a warped idea driven by his desire for balance. Throughout his quest, Thanos battled many of Earth’s greatest heroes, but ultimately won, becoming the most powerful being in existence. Afterward, he destroyed the Infinity Stones, removing their power from the MCU’s main universe, Earth 616.

11) Bruce Banner’s Hulk

Five years after Thanos wiped out half of all life, the remaining Avengers planned a daring mission – a journey through time – to gather the Infinity Stones. They traveled to different moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s past and successfully collected all six stones. Tony Stark then created a new gauntlet to hold them. Because the stones are incredibly powerful and emit dangerous radiation, Bruce Banner, in his Smart Hulk form, realized he was the only one who could safely use it. He snapped his fingers, bringing back everyone Thanos had eliminated, and remarkably survived the process.

10) Clint Barton’s Hawkeye

During the massive battle in *Avengers: Endgame*, a Thanos from the past traveled to the future with his army, hoping to quickly grab the completed Infinity Gauntlet without having to earn it. Several heroes briefly held the Gauntlet but didn’t use its power. Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) was the first – he discovered it amongst the ruins of the Avengers headquarters right after Thanos arrived. While being pursued by Thanos’s creatures, Hawkeye protected the Gauntlet, making it harder for Thanos to reclaim it.

9) Nebula

Badly injured, Clint Barton passed the Infinity Gauntlet to who he believed was Nebula, a teammate who’d fought alongside the Avengers. However, it was actually an earlier version of Nebula, from 2014, who was still trying to earn her father’s approval. This Nebula intended to give Thanos the Gauntlet, but her future, heroic self intervened, stopping her and bringing a powerful moment of closure for the Guardians of the Galaxy.

8) T’Challa’s Black Panther

Immediately after Bruce Banner brought everyone back with a snap, the heroes Thanos had defeated five years prior reappeared at Avengers HQ and jumped into the fight against Thanos and his army. Hawkeye managed to take the Infinity Gauntlet from Nebula and brought it to the battlefield, where Black Panther (played by the late Chadwick Boseman) tried to get it to Ant-Man’s time-travel van. Black Panther faced intense attacks while carrying the Gauntlet and couldn’t get it very far, but other heroes quickly stepped in to help.

7) Peter Parker’s Spider-Man

During the intense battle for Earth, a young Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) was crucial in getting the Infinity Gauntlet to the Quantum Tunnel. He took the gauntlet from T’Challa and, with the help of other heroes – even riding on Valkyrie’s pegasus – moved it closer to its destination. He demonstrated his heroic dedication by risking his life to protect the Infinity Stones. Tom Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man in the upcoming 2026 film, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*.

6) Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel

Brie Larson first appeared as Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) in the 2019 film of the same name. Though she missed much of *Avengers: Endgame*, her immense power meant she could quickly defeat most enemies. During the battle for Earth, she played a crucial role in fighting Thanos and safeguarding the Infinity Gauntlet. She almost managed to deliver it to the Quantum Tunnel, but Thanos destroyed it just in time. Even so, Captain Marvel held her own against Thanos-until he used the Power Stone against her-and her efforts bought valuable time for whoever would wield the stones next.

5) Tony Stark’s Iron Man

In *Avengers: Endgame*, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) briefly wielded all six Infinity Stones, cleverly taking them from Thanos after Thanos himself had acquired them. Stark then used the Stones to obliterate Thanos and his army, effectively ending the battle for Earth and saving the universe, but at the cost of his own life. While Iron Man’s death was a powerfully emotional moment, Robert Downey Jr. is slated to reprise his role in the upcoming 2026 film, *Avengers: Doomsday*, though this time as the Marvel villain Doctor Doom.

4) Steve Rogers’ Captain America

Following the victory at the Battle of Earth and Tony Stark’s funeral, Steve Rogers took on the important task of returning the Infinity Stones and the Mjolnir hammer from 2013 to their correct timelines, fixing the disruption to the multiverse. Fans have been eager to see this story depicted on screen since *Avengers: Endgame*, but Marvel hasn’t yet shared the details of his journey. Rogers, played by Chris Evans, chose to spend his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) after completing this mission, though rumors continue about a possible return for Captain America in future films like *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*.

3) Infinity Ultron

Although the six Infinity Stones were last seen together in live-action during *Avengers: Endgame*, they’ve played a significant role in the animated series *What If…?*. In season 1 of *What If…?*, a different version of Ultron (voiced by Ross Marquand) collected the stones and became incredibly powerful – Infinity Ultron. He destroyed everything in his universe and then threatened the entire multiverse, leading to a conflict with the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) and the Guardians of the Multiverse. He was ultimately defeated by a virus created by Arnim Zola, and another version of him later helped release the Watcher from imprisonment in season 3 of *What If…?*.

2) Killmonger’s Black Panther

After Infinity Ultron was defeated in the season 1 finale of *What If…?*, Killmonger – a twisted version of Erik Stevens (played by Michael B. Jordan) – began his own quest for the Infinity Stones. In his universe, Killmonger became the Black Panther by deceiving Tony Stark and killing T’Challa, and he would have gained even more power with the stones. However, Arnim Zola (Toby Jones) also wanted them. Doctor Strange Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) and the Watcher ultimately stopped them both by trapping them in a separate dimension, where they were doomed to fight each other for the stones forever.

1) Captain Carter

Captain Carter, a super-powered version of Peggy Carter, quickly became a central figure in the *What If…?* series. After joining the Guardians of the Multiverse, she traveled across different realities, assisting others. In the season 2 finale, Carter teamed up with Kahhori to battle Strange Supreme and his dangerous allies. During this fight, she and Kahhori gained amazing abilities, and Captain Carter even managed to take all six Infinity Stones from a version of Thanos. Currently, she’s the most recent Marvel character to wield all six Stones, but with upcoming events like *Doomsday* and *Secret Wars*, she might not be the last.
