As the weeks roll by, another pile of anticipated anime is gearing up for release. We’ve officially entered the Summer 2025 anime season, and many of the highly anticipated shows have already aired their first episodes. However, there are still several significant anime premieres scheduled for this week. Fans have been enjoying the comeback of popular series such as “My Dress-Up Darling” and “Dandadan,” new exciting titles like “The Summer Hikaru Died” and “The Flower Blooms with Dignity,” and some unconventional comedies, including “CITY THE ANIMATION” and “New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.
This week’s selection might not be as varied or multifaceted, but there are three highly anticipated continuations of popular shonen series on the horizon, and they’re definitely worth checking out. Additionally, a fresh slice-of-life music series is making its debut, offering a relaxing respite from intense action sequences when needed. Here’s a rundown of all the new anime premiering this week.
This Week’s Biggest Anime Releases
This week, two massive shonen anime series make their comeback on our screens, but with a twist. The first one is Season 2 of “Kaiju No. 8,” and Production I.G. is back for another season of the widely praised action-comedy series. With the shocking ending of Season 1 revealing that the Third Defense Force now knows about Kafka’s powers, it will be intriguing to see how the team dynamics evolve in the new season. However, the return of “Kaiju No. 8” Season 2 brings a bittersweet moment for fans as Naoya Matsumoto’s manga is nearing its conclusion.
Infinity Castle”! Sadly, if you’re not based in Japan or aren’t ready to jet off spontaneously, you’ll have a bit of a wait ahead. The movie debuts in Japanese cinemas this week, but U.S. enthusiasts will need to exercise patience for another two months before they can enjoy it.
Wrapping up the shonen series, the second season of Netflix’s Sakamoto Days returns to the streaming platform this week. Despite not becoming the cultural phenomenon that Netflix and TMS Entertainment may have anticipated, many viewers have still found pleasure in Taro Sakamoto’s light-hearted hitman antics.
This week, I’m genuinely excited about the top three drops, but let’s be real – it’s not the busiest week for new releases. However, there’s an additional gem you might want to add to your watchlist! It’s called Harmony of Millie-Feuille, a fresh anime brought to us by Pony Canyon and Takuya Yamanaka. This series is produced by Jumondou, and it revolves around Uta Komaki, a first-year high school student who yearns to shed her awkwardness and join the school’s music program.
