Every Pokemon and Rogue Mega Battle You Have to Fight to Get Mega Stones in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Many Pokémon fans are especially excited about the return of Mega Evolution in *Pokémon Legends: Z-A*. Not only can classic Pokémon Mega Evolve again, but many new Pokémon gain this ability as you explore Lumiose City. You’ll need to find a special Mega Stone for each Pokémon you want to Mega Evolve, and equip it with the Mega Bracelet you receive during the game. Finding these Mega Stones isn’t always straightforward, so you might have to do some searching to complete your team.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A features challenging battles where having a Mega Evolved Pokemon can be a huge advantage. To prepare, you’ll want to build a team with Pokemon equipped with Mega Stones. This will help you defeat powerful bosses and tough trainers who also use Mega Evolution. The game offers several ways to obtain these Mega Stones: you can buy them, trade Mega Shards for them, or earn them by defeating special, powerful Mega Evolved Pokemon.

How to Get Mega Stones in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can find new Mega Stones through three different methods, but each one only offers a limited selection. Here’s a quick look at each method to help you build your team. Keep in mind that you’ll receive the Mega Stone for your starter Pokemon as a story gift from AZ, meaning you can’t obtain the Mega Stones for Emboar, Chikorita, or Totodile through any other means.

Trade in Mega Shards at Quasartico, Inc.

When you first visit Quasartico, Inc., you can exchange Mega Shards for Mega Stones. The shop starts with a limited selection, but more stones will become available as you unlock new Mega Evolutions throughout the game. You can only purchase each Mega Stone once, and the shop will show it as sold after you buy it. Eventually, you’ll be able to choose from a complete list of stones.

As a Pokémon fan, I always check this list first when I’m trying to find a Mega Stone to evolve one of my Pokémon. If I can’t find what I need here, but I *know* my Pokémon can Mega Evolve, there are two other spots I like to look!

Buy Mega Stones for Cash at the Stone Emporium

In Lumiose City, you can find a store that sells both evolution stones and certain Mega Stones. If you can’t get a specific Mega Stone from Quasartico Inc., check out the Stone Emporium. Keep in mind that the Stone Emporium’s stock doesn’t change, so the Mega Stones available to buy will always be the same. Here’s a list of the Mega Stones they offer, along with their prices:

  • Abomsite (Mega Abomasnow) – $50,000
  • Blastoisinite (Mega Blastoise) – $100,000
  • Charizardite X (Mega Charizard X) – $100,000
  • Charizardite Y (Mega Charizard Y) – $100,000
  • Garchompite (Mega Garchomp) – $70,000
  • Gengarite (Mega Gengar) – $50,000
  • Kangaskanite (Mega Kangaskhan) – $70,000
  • Medichamite (Mega Medicham) – $50,000
  • Scizorite (Mega Scizor) – $50,000

Defeat That Pokemon’s Rogue Mega Battle

You can also get Mega Stones by defeating special, powerful Pokemon called Rogue Mega Evolutions. When you win against a Rogue Mega Evolution you haven’t beaten before, you’ll automatically receive the Mega Stone needed to evolve that Pokemon.

If a Pokémon is going to be featured as a Rogue Mega Pokémon, its Mega Stone won’t be available for purchase at Quasartico or the Stone Emporium. If you’re having trouble finding a specific Mega Stone, it’s a good idea to check a list of all the Pokémon you’ll fight in Rogue Mega Battles.

Every Rogue Mega Battle in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

This list reveals which Pokémon can Mega Evolve in *Pokémon Legends: Z-A*, and may contain slight spoilers. The special battles to unlock these Mega Evolutions become available as you progress through the story, appearing on the map in groups of three. If you want to know if you can earn a Mega Stone for a specific Pokémon without trading, this list will be helpful! Defeating each Pokémon in battle will reward you with its corresponding Mega Stone.

Absol

Okay, so the first Rogue Mega Pokemon I ran into was Absol, and it was pretty cool! Instead of just catching it like normal, *this* Absol actually joined my team right away. It totally made sense why I got that Absolite earlier – now I had a Pokemon that could actually use it! It was a nice little incentive to put it to work immediately.

Altaria

You’ll encounter this powerful Flying-type Pokémon, which can Mega Evolve, during the fourth set of battles against Team MZ in Legends: Z-A. Defeating it is required to obtain the Mega Stone needed to Mega Evolve Altaria.

Ampharos

This is a challenging Rogue Mega Battle you’ll face during the third outbreak with Team MZ. If you win, you’ll unlock the ability to Mega Evolve your Ampharos using the Ampharosite.

Banette

This Ghost and Dark-type Pokémon is one of the tougher opponents in the second set of Team MZ battles. If you defeat it, you’ll earn the Banettite item.

Barbaracle

Okay, so during the third outbreak with Team MZ, you’ll be facing off against a Rogue Mega Barbaracle. If you manage to take it down, you’ll get a Babaracite, which is awesome because it lets you Mega Evolve your own Barbaracle – one of the new Megas in the game!

Beedrill

Mega Beedrill is a powerful opponent in Team MZ’s second set of special battles. If you defeat it, you’ll earn a Beedrill Mega Stone, also known as Beedrillite.

Camerupt

Defeat Mega Camerupt during the first wave of Rogue Mega Battles with Team MZ to get Cameruptite.

Dragonite

The game Legends: Z-A first showed off this new Mega Evolution in its promotional materials. However, you won’t actually battle it until the fifth fight against Team MZ. If you win, you’ll receive Dragoninite.

Froslass

You’ll encounter this Ice and Ghost-type Pokémon in a special battle against Team MZ during the fourth round of the game. If you defeat it, you’ll earn the Froslassite, which allows you to Mega Evolve Froslass in Legends: Z-A.

Hawlucha

You can obtain Hawlucha’s Mega Stone by winning its special Mega Battle during the second set of battles against Team MZ. This Mega Evolution is new to the game, and was announced before the release of *Legends: Z-A*.

Starmie

A new Mega Evolution will appear in the fifth round of battles against Team MZ. If you win, you’ll receive Starminite, which you can use to evolve Starmie into its Mega form – it’s a fun and unique addition to any team!

Slowbro

If you defeat Mega Slowbro in the first round of a Rogue Mega Battle while playing with Team MZ, you’ll get the Slowbronite item.

Mawile

Mega Mawile is a powerful opponent you’ll face as part of Team MZ’s third wave of battles. If you defeat it, you’ll earn the Mawilite, which allows Mawile to Mega Evolve.

Tyranitar

In the fifth outbreak near Lumiose City, you’ll face Rogue Mega Tyranitar alongside Team MZ. If you win, you’ll receive a Tyranitarite, which allows you to Mega Evolve Tyranitar.

Venusaur

In the fourth round of Team MZ’s Rogue Mega battles, you’ll fight Mega Venusaur. If you win, you’ll receive the unique Venusaurite, which isn’t available anywhere else in the game.

Victreebel

Defeat Mega Victreebel in the first round of Team MZ’s Rogue Mega Battles, and you’ll earn a Victreebel Mega Stone. As a new Mega Evolution in Legends: Z-A, it’s a powerful addition to any team.
