Every Super Team Confirmed & Rumored for Avengers: Doomsday

Initially, the early Avengers films concentrate on a specific team of superheroes. In the movie simply titled “The Avengers”, Director Nick Fury unites the strongest characters from the Marvel Universe to thwart Loki’s plans to conquer Earth with his Chitauri forces. The scenario is not vastly dissimilar in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, as the original team reunites and encounters a few new allies, such as Vision, Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff), and Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff). However, following the events of “Captain America: Civil War”, many Avengers find themselves at odds with one another, adding complexity to “Avengers: Infinity War”. To deal with this, the characters are split into various groups that assault Thanos on numerous fronts.

Refusing to join forces turns out to be a regrettable decision for the MCU’s heroes, but it doesn’t seem like they’ve grasped this lesson yet. In Avengers: Doomsday, various teams will encounter Doctor Doom, and not all of these groups get along swimmingly. Here’s a rundown of every confirmed and whispered super-teams for the Doomsday event.

1) Confirmed: The New Avengers

In the comic “Doomsday,” it’s the New Avengers, freshly assembled, who serve as Earth-616’s initial defense line. At the conclusion of “Thunderbolts,” this team is brought into focus by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, even though they’re not fully ready for the task at hand. Despite their unpreparedness, they seem to be performing admirably. The main problem they face is a rival group who also claim to be Earth’s most powerful heroes, causing a conflict between the two groups.

2) Confirmed: Sam Wilson’s Avengers

In Captain America: Brave New World, the battle against the Red Hulk triggers a realization in Sam Wilson that it’s time to reunite the Avengers once more. His initial recruit is Joaquin Torres, yet before he manages to contact other potential members like Shuri, Ant-Man, and Shang-Chi, the New Avengers overshadow him. The fact that someone else is using the Avengers name bothers Sam, so he plans to bring his old friend Bucky Barnes to trial. Their bond may deteriorate further in Doomsday before it improves.

3) Confirmed: The Fantastic Four

The Marvel’s legendary family, known as the Fantastic Four, are expected to offer a unique viewpoint on the apocalyptic event called Doomsday when they arrive in Earth-616 seeking aid. The final scenes of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” suggest that Doctor Doom has kidnapped Franklin Richards, which compels the team to journey to another dimension due to their unique status as the sole heroes from their realm. Reed Richards and Sue Storm are relentless in their pursuit of rescuing their son and eliminating Doctor Doom from the picture.

4) Confirmed: The X-Men

In the film “Doomsday,” the wildcard element is expected to be the original X-Men cast from Fox. Their exact part isn’t yet clear since they are no longer in their peak years. While they might engage in battles, it seems improbable that they’ll last throughout the entire movie given the main focus on the Avengers and Fantastic Four. Doom may eliminate the X-Men early on to demonstrate his formidable power.

5) Rumored: Loki’s Team

It’s apparently quite a crowd as it stands, yet there are whispers that the impending event named Doomsday will involve additional prominent groups. As per Cosmic Circus reports, Loki is rumored to have assembled his own team. Despite currently occupying the throne at the End of Time and holding the multiverse together, it’s unlikely that the God of Mischief can maintain this position indefinitely if Doom intends to dismantle his efforts. Loki might enlist members from the Time Variance Authority and potentially even his brother, Thor, to counterattack.

6) Rumored: Doctor Doom’s Team

Although Doom is formidable by himself, taking on multiple MCU teams might prove too challenging for him individually. Perhaps, his strategy could involve assembling an extraordinary ensemble of villains. According to Cosmic Circus, Doom’s team will be featured in ‘Doomsday’, but they haven’t revealed the members yet. However, it’s plausible that he might seek help from some familiar adversaries, including a variant of Steve Rogers.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
