Season 1 of The Mighty Nein has finished, quickly establishing itself as a top fantasy show of 2025 and leaving fans eager for more. The season ended with a dramatic cliffhanger, bringing all the main storylines to a head. Now, viewers are understandably excited to find out what happens next with The Mighty Nein.
There’s positive news regarding the future of The Legend of Vox Machina spinoff! Unlike many new streaming shows, its path forward is secure, easing concerns about cancellation. Plus, fans already have a good sense of how far along production is on Season 2.
The Mighty Nein Season 2 Is Already Confirmed

Fans of The Mighty Nein don’t need to worry about the show being cut short – a second season was already planned before the first even aired. Both The Mighty Nein and The Legend of Vox Machina on Prime Video are lucky in that respect, as many fantasy shows get canceled before they can really develop. The Legend of Vox Machina is on track to complete its planned five seasons, and while future seasons of The Mighty Nein haven’t been officially announced, the team began the show knowing they had at least two seasons to tell their story.
The first two seasons of The Mighty Nein were filmed back-to-back, ensuring a smooth flow between them. This likely explains why the ending of Season 1 felt so open-ended. While the final episode, “The Zadash Job,” is full of action, it leaves viewers with more questions than answers. Don’t worry, though – it’s not the end! The events of this episode will set the stage for what happens next. (Spoiler alert for The Mighty Nein Season 1, Episode 8!)
How The Mighty Nein Season 1’s Ending Sets Up the Next Chapter

The first season of The Mighty Nein ends with the group, now closer and more trusting, attempting to steal the Luxon Beacon from the Soltryce Academy. While they ultimately get the artifact, it’s not through a successful heist. The plan goes wrong several times – Caleb almost succumbs to Trent Ikithon’s influence, and then a surprise attack by the Kryn Dynasty throws everything into chaos. Both the Mighty Nein and the Kryn want the beacon, leading to a confrontation between the Kryn and Caleb’s old mentor. The group barely escapes, forced to flee into the sewers alongside the Kryn, who secure the beacon and defeat Trent.
This is where the main team gets another opportunity to grab the beacon: they confront the Kryn and won’t let them escape. Despite their efforts, the team is almost overcome by the enemy force. However, Fjord manages to defeat one of them by absorbing a yellow orb he was carrying, and Yasha arrives just in the nick of time to finish off the rest. She then attempts to take the artifact, but something unexpected happens. As Yasha touches the Luxon Beacon, it releases energy and breaks whatever magical hold she was under.
The show hasn’t fully revealed who or what is controlling Yasha, but this force seems to disappear at the end of the first season. In the finale, Yasha asks the Mighty Nein for help, and a key item, the Luxon Beacon, falls into their possession. This suggests the next season will likely explore Yasha’s past before she became part of the group. The entity that was controlling her could also become a danger to them. Plus, they might be pursued by both the Kryn and the Volstruckers. Even if they give the artifact to the Gentleman, they’ve thwarted both of those groups, which is unlikely to make them happy.
As a huge fan, I’m already bracing myself for what happens to Essek in Season 2! It looks like things are going to get really bad for him – he’s knocked out during the fight, and Trent actually removes his mask, meaning Trent now knows everything Essek has been up to. Given how harsh Trent is with his students, I’m seriously worried about what that means for Essek as a prisoner. Beyond that, the war between the Kryn Dynasty and the Empire is clearly going to explode, and that’s going to raise the stakes for everyone in Exandria. I can’t wait (and am a little scared!) to see how it all unfolds.
The Mighty Nein Season 2 Could Be Here Sooner Than Expected

Fans are eagerly awaiting Season 2 of The Mighty Nein after the Season 1 finale. Good news: it might arrive sooner than expected! While many streaming shows take two years to return, executive producer Sam Riegel recently told Screen Rant they’re aiming for a 2026 release. He explained that they’re currently finishing up the final touches – mixing, animation, and sound editing – and are hopeful to have it ready for streaming next year.
While not confirmed, a 2026 release for The Mighty Nein Season 2 seems likely given the progress made. It could be released soon after completion, unless Prime Video prioritizes Season 4 of The Legend of Vox Machina. Even if The Mighty Nein doesn’t arrive until early 2027, it’s good news that production and renewal aren’t still needed. If both The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein return in 2026, it would be fantastic for fans.
