Fans Hope This Mysterious PS Store Listing Points to a PS Stars Replacement

Last year, Sony quite suddenly dropped support for its PlayStation rewards program, PS Stars.

The old system wasn’t perfect, but it let customers earn PlayStation Store credit as a reward. Now that it’s gone, there’s currently no way to earn rewards at all.

So, gamers like me just stumbled across this weird page on the PlayStation Store, and everyone’s crossing their fingers it means they’re planning to release a new version soon!

Although Sony hasn’t announced it yet, a listing for “Wallet Credits” has appeared on the PlayStation Store website. Right now, the listing doesn’t have any details beyond identifying Sony as the publisher, but you can add it to your wishlist if you’re interested.

The most likely explanation is that Sony plans to revamp or replace PS Stars. One possibility is a system where you earn Wallet Credits with each purchase, which could then be converted into actual wallet funds once you reach a certain amount. However, this is just speculation right now.

There’s a new idea circulating: the recent ability to buy PlayStation Store credit for yourself might actually be a step towards letting players gift games or funds to each other. Could Sony be getting ready to allow you to send Wallet Credits to a friend, letting them buy whatever they want?

It’s obvious Sony is planning something, and we’ll likely find out soon what Wallet Credits are all about. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait much longer for official details.
