Far Cry TV Adaptation Announced With It’s Always Sunny’s Rob Mac as Executive Producer

A new TV series based on the popular video game Far Cry is coming soon. The show will air on FX in the US and be available for streaming on Hulu. Viewers internationally will be able to watch it on Disney+. Rob Mac, known for his work on shows like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Mythic Quest, is an executive producer on the project.

The Far Cry TV show will be produced by Mac’s production company, More Better Productions, along with Noah Hawley’s 26 Keys. Hawley is the creator of shows like Fargo and Alien: Earth. Mac will not only be an executive producer on the Far Cry series, but will also star in it.

Mac expressed his excitement about working with Noah Hawley, calling it a dream come true. He also praised Ubisoft for their trust in his team, giving them the opportunity to adapt a truly legendary video game. Mac also thanked his colleagues at FX for their ongoing encouragement and support.

Although specific details are still limited, the official announcement confirms the TV show, like the Far Cry games, will be an anthology series. This means each season will feature a completely original story and new characters. Noah Hawley also shared that he’s enjoyed creating anthology series in the past and has long hoped to adapt Far Cry for television.

Noah Hawley explained his enthusiasm for the Far Cry games, comparing the franchise to the Fargo TV series. He loves that each Far Cry game, like each season of Fargo, offers a unique take on a central idea. He’s thrilled to be working with Rob to create a large-scale action show that can evolve each year, all while examining the complexities of human nature with a bold and unconventional approach.

So, I heard from Nick Grade over at FX, and apparently he’s worked with the creators, Mac and Hawley, on a ton of shows – like, six different series totaling 32 seasons! He basically said FX is going to be really involved in how the show turns out, and he thanked Ubisoft for letting them take the creative lead. Sounds like they’re giving FX a lot of freedom with it, which is cool!

FX is thrilled to be working with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley again, building on their successful six series and 32 seasons together. We’re especially excited they’re collaborating on Far Cry. We’re confident they’ll deliver a unique, captivating, and highly entertaining story. We also appreciate Ubisoft for allowing us to bring this popular franchise to life.

I’m really excited to hear who’s all working on the next Far Cry movie! Besides Mac and Hawley, they’ve got Emilia Serrano from 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel from 3 Arts, and Jackie Cohn from More Better Productions helping out. Plus, a bunch of talented people from Ubisoft Film & Television – John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill – are involved too. It sounds like a great team!
