For two years now, we haven’t seen Dom Toretto and his family on our screens in Fast X, but over the weekend, Vin Diesel shared some thrilling news with fans eagerly waiting for the concluding part of this high-octane movie series.
At Fuel Fest, a gathering for automobile enthusiasts in Pomona, California, the main figure subtly shared some insights about Fast X: Part 2, which is set to release in theaters, tentatively scheduled for April 2027.
According to Variety, he shared that the studio asked him if they could release the final installment of ‘Fast and Furious’ in April 2027, to which he agreed. Subsequently, he detailed three key requirements he had set for them to meet this timeline, each centered around returning the franchise to its original essence.
He stated that the first step was to re-establish the franchise in Los Angeles, followed by recapturing the essence of car culture and street racing. Lastly, he emphasized the importance of reconnecting Dom and Brian O’Conner.

Indeed, the latter request raises many queries. As followers of the series know, Brian O’Conner was the role portrayed by the late Paul Walker, who played a significant part in the franchise across the first seven installments before his untimely death at age 40 in 2013.
At this point, it isn’t evident exactly how Diesel intends to reintegrate the character into the storyline, but given that recasting the role seems improbable, there’s a chance he might opt for digitally incorporating the deceased actor into the movie by employing archival footage.
It’s intriguing to consider returning to simpler roots, especially since the series has been known for its escalating action and extremity with each release, reaching a point where the characters were even propelled into space in one version.
It’s uncertain which of the franchise’s well-known actors will return for the upcoming movie, Fast X. The previous film featured a large group of stars, with Vin Diesel joined by Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but ponder over the intriguing return of Dwayne Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, who was once an integral part of the Fast & Furious franchise. In the thrilling mid-credits scene of Fast X, we were treated to his unexpected comeback. Could this mean a permanent return in the next film? Only time will tell.
