FBI season 9: Release date speculation and latest news

Now that the eighth season of FBI has finished airing, viewers are already asking if the show will be renewed for another season.

It would be disappointing if FBI ended, but fans don’t need to worry! The show was renewed for season nine last year, along with a commitment for future seasons.

As a big fan of FBI, I was thrilled when it got renewed – it meant we’d have new episodes through 2026 and 2027! Now that season 8 has finished airing in the US, though, I’m already starting to wonder how long we’ll have to wait for season 9. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking when a show ends a season and you don’t know when the next one will arrive.

Wondering when FBI season 9 will land on our screens? Read on for everything we know so far.

FBI season 9 release date speculation

Currently, we don’t have a specific date for the premiere of FBI season 9, but it’s expected to return to US television in fall 2026.

Originally, the ninth season was planned to begin in fall 2026 and finish in spring 2027.

CBS will probably announce the official release date soon, as fall is just around the corner. For viewers in the UK, FBI is available on Sky Witness and NOW, with new episodes of season 8 dropping weekly. Because of this, the UK release will likely be a little later, but stay tuned for updates.

When the show was renewed, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach explained that its Tuesday night programming, featuring FBI shows, was a strong performer for the network.

Dick Wolf and the incredibly talented team behind the three shows consistently deliver compelling stories, thrilling action, and captivating mysteries that have kept viewers hooked for many seasons. We’re eager to see what adventures await these characters in the next season.

FBI season 9 cast speculation: Who might return?

Season 8 began with intense drama for Isobel, who was recovering from a serious explosion at the end of the previous season. She was in a coma for several days, leading many fans to worry, but she thankfully pulled through.

Alana De La Garza will definitely return for season 9, and so will the rest of the show’s main actors. She turned down a promotion because she didn’t want to leave her current team.

Dani Rhodes, who played Emily Alabi, won’t be returning to the show. Her character was tragically killed off in the season 8 premiere – she was shot during a hostage crisis and died in Scola’s arms. Rhodes first appeared in season 7.

Here’s a list of the cast members we are expecting to see in season 9:

  • Missy Peregrym as Maggie Bell
  • Zeeko Zaki as Omar Adom ‘OA’ Zidan
  • Jeremy Sisto as Jubal Valentine
  • John Boyd as Stuart Scola
  • Alana De La Garza as Isobel Castille
  • Juliana Aidén Martinez as Eva Ramos
