Feature: Going Platinum: I Didn’t Want This Clever, Cosy PS4 Game to End

Platinum Trophy #21: Carto

Date Earned: 25th October 2020

Dopamine Index:

Carto is a charming indie game that I really enjoyed. It’s visually appealing and has a clever core mechanic that keeps the gameplay fresh and satisfying throughout the entire experience.

To be honest, I haven’t played a game quite like Carto, either before or after it came out in late 2020.

If you’re new to the game, it’s a puzzle adventure where you can change the environment by manipulating the map.

It can be tricky to grasp, but by connecting matching edges, you change both the map itself and the world you can explore. This is how you solve puzzles and help people with their issues.

Even now, the game feels fresh and new. It’s incredibly accessible, and the adorable visuals give it the charm of a classic storybook.

It’s a really charming and heartwarming game. You start by being separated from your grandmother, but everyone you encounter along the way is kind and willing to help you find her. It’s genuinely lovely.

When I played Carto, I really enjoyed it but wished it were a bit longer. At around six hours, I felt like the game’s unique map-changing idea could have been explored even further.

I loved wandering through the charming little areas, interacting with the quirky characters, and figuring out the clever puzzles. It’s not really a shock that I eventually unlocked all the achievements!

However, the trophy isn’t hard to get, and doesn’t take very long. Just like the rest of the game, earning all the trophies in Carto is fairly easy.

This game is really cozy and calming – it’s great to play when you need a break from more demanding games. I highly recommend checking it out, especially since it’s an easy Platinum trophy to earn.

Cheers, Carto.
