So, it sounds like Square Enix isn’t finished with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake yet! I heard from the director, Naoki Hamaguchi, that they’re actually thinking about adding DLC to the third part of the game. That’s awesome news – I’m really hoping they do! It means we might get even more story and content after everything wraps up.
It feels like the story of Final Fantasy 7 is already being extended too far by dividing it into three games, so adding even more content with downloadable updates seems unnecessary.
We’re still unsure what Part 3 will actually involve, so it’s too early to make predictions. It could be almost anything right now – from a game based on Advent Children to a remake of Dirge of Cerberus, and everything in between.
We better shut up before Square Enix actually starts listening…
According to a recent interview with ntower (translated by GamesRadar), Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth didn’t receive any downloadable content because the development team preferred to focus immediately on creating the next game in the series.
He explained that developing downloadable content for the second game at the same time as the third game would likely delay the third game and lower its quality, given that the games are planned as a long-running series.
Since Part 3 is planned as the end of the story, there’s potential for new ideas to be added. However, whether or not they actually happen will depend on how much players want them.
Whether or not we see more downloadable content after the third part will depend on how much fans continue to enjoy and support Final Fantasy 7, both the game itself and the series as a whole, says Hamaguchi.
If enough people are interested, we’re definitely willing to consider making more downloadable content.
However, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s first understand the goals of Part 3. We expect it to be the largest and most ambitious game in the series, given the amount of gameplay and story it needs to include. Plus, with the addition of an airship, it wouldn’t be surprising if it offers a more open and free-roaming experience.
Good news! It sounds like Part 3 might be announced soon.
Okay, so they’re thinking about DLC for the third part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and honestly, I’m hyped! I’m really curious what kind of content people would actually want to see added. And, for fun, they want us to drop our best (or worst!) lines from Advent Children in the comments. I’m already thinking of a few…
