The director of the third *Final Fantasy VII Remake* game has stated that it will be significantly different from *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth*. Details about the final game in the trilogy are still scarce – it doesn’t even have a confirmed title yet. However, Square Enix has shared that this installment will feature a major change compared to the previous games.
Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the *Final Fantasy VII Remake* trilogy, recently told ScreenRant that *Part 3* will be shorter than *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth*. While *Rebirth* received a lot of positive feedback, its length—much longer than the original *Remake*—was a point of discussion for some players, who preferred the shorter 30-35 hour playtime of the first game. Hamaguchi says the team will aim for a slightly more streamlined experience with the final game, though he personally doesn’t think *Rebirth* felt overly long.
Hamaguchi explained that he doesn’t think the length of certain sections in *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth* was excessive. He believes modern gamers are overwhelmed with options and expect games to wrap up quickly. As they finish the trilogy, the team is focusing on pacing the story and its arcs to create a more focused and streamlined experience.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Being Shorter Is a Good Thing

Some fans might worry about the next *Final Fantasy VII Remake* being shorter, but I think that’s actually a good thing. *Rebirth* was a great game, but it felt a little too long at times, which slowed down the story. On average, players spend almost 20 more hours finishing *Rebirth* compared to the original *Remake*. So, if the final game is closer in length to the first one, I believe it will make for a more satisfying ending to the trilogy.
We don’t have a confirmed release date for *Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3* yet, but many expect it to launch in either 2027 or 2028. When it does come out, it will likely be available on PlayStation first, before eventually being released on Nintendo, Xbox, and PC.
