Finn & Jake Reunite in New Adventure Time Revival (Release Date & First Look Revealed)

After a five-year break, Adventure Time is returning with a new spinoff series starring Finn and Jake. Cartoon Network has been bringing back several of its popular classic shows recently, and Adventure Time has been a major focus, with both a continuation of the original series and a brand new story set in a different universe.

I’m so excited about Adventure Time: Side Quests! It’s a brand new series that brings Finn and Jake back to Ooo for a fresh wave of adventures. Think of it as a companion to the original – it’s going to revisit some of their earliest days, but with shorter, self-contained stories. Best of all, a lot of the original voice actors are returning! Hulu is releasing it this summer, and they’ve already given us a first look – it looks amazing!

Adventure Time: Side Quests Confirms Hulu Release Date

Fans can look forward to Adventure Time: Side Quests when it premieres on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the U.S. on June 29th. International audiences will be able to watch it on Cartoon Network and stream it on HBO Max starting October 5th. This new series is meant to attract a new generation of viewers, offering a return to the more lighthearted and episodic style of the original show. John DiMaggio will reprise his role as Jake the Dog, but Sasha Knight will be taking over as the voice of Finn the Human.

The new series will also feature the voices of Tom Kenny as Ice King, Hynden Walch as Princess Bubblegum, Olivia Olsen as Marceline, and Niki Yang as BMO. Nate Cash is the Showrunner and Executive Producer of Adventure Time: Side Quests, with Darrick Bachman as Story Editor. Victor Courtright and Niki Yang will direct, Nick Cross is the Art Director, and Matthew Janszen is composing the music.

What’s Going on With Adventure Time?

According to showrunner Nate Cash, creating the side quests for the show felt similar to the original Adventure Time – a collaborative and creative process like working with friends on a professional project. He described it as an emotional experience, and expressed confidence that fans will enjoy these new stories with Finn and Jake. This announcement was part of a larger reveal in 2024 about new Adventure Time projects, which also includes an upcoming movie.

Recently, many beloved Cartoon Network shows have been brought back, and this new series is a unique approach. Unlike revivals created by the original teams, like those for The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball and Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, this is a spin-off of Adventure Time. However, it captures the same fun and quirky energy that made the original so popular, giving it a true revival feel.
