Fire Breaks Out at Golden Globes 2026

The 2026 Golden Globes is fire… literally.

A fire briefly disrupted the awards show, hosted by Nikki Glaser at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 11th. The incident happened backstage shortly after the show began.

A potential disaster was quickly handled at the Golden Globes press room when a catering mishap caused a small fire. According to Hollywood Reporter journalist Chris Gardner, a coffee holder tipped over, igniting the sterno underneath. For a short time, the carpet was on fire and smoke filled the area around the curtains.

Although it was a scary situation, the fire was quickly extinguished. As he said, “Thankfully, they put it out fast! Wow!”

Despite a fire breaking out elsewhere in the Beverly Hilton, the awards show continued in the ballroom. Surprisingly, the audience reacted with laughter when Seth Rogen won the award for Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, for his role as Matt Remick in The Studio.

Seth jokingly remarked from the stage that it felt strange to actually be winning a Golden Globe for his role in the Apple TV+ series, after they had playfully acted out the scenario. He added that he’d always thought the only way he’d ever hold one of the awards would be to create a show and give himself a pretend one.

The 43-year-old also gave a shout-out to his fellow nominees, including Adam Brody, Glen Powell, Jeremy Allen White, Martin Short, and Steve Martin.

He went on to say the other nominees were amazing, particularly Steve Martin and Martin Short. He fondly recalled watching them throughout his childhood and dreaming of one day being as successful as they were.

Finally, Seth expressed his gratitude to his fellow actors, such as Kathryn Hahn, Chase Sui Wonders, and Catherine O’Hara.

An actor’s quality depends heavily on the people they work with, and I feel fortunate to be able to choose my co-stars. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to perform alongside such talented people on this show.

Oh my gosh, and at the very end, Seth was SO sweet! He gave shout-outs to everyone he worked with, including the amazing Kathryn Hahn, the unbelievably cool Chase Sui Wonders, and the ICONIC Catherine O’Hara! I was practically screaming – they’re all just perfect!

An actor’s quality depends heavily on the people they work with, and I feel fortunate to be able to choose my co-stars. I want to express my gratitude to the other performers on the show.
