Since the PlayStation 5 won’t have Nintendo’s new Fire Emblem game, you might be searching for something similar to play instead.
Happinet’s Brigandine: Abyss, due out in 2026, may just tick that box.
This game comes from a popular strategy RPG series that began on the PlayStation 1 in 1998. A continuation of the story was released for the PlayStation 4 in 2020, and this is the newest installment.
The blurb reads:
Brigandine: Abyss is the latest installment in a long-running series, offering a fresh world that’s easy for newcomers to jump into. Centuries ago, the Abyssloa Empire was defeated using powerful magical armor called the Brigandine. Now, a new Abyssloa Empire has emerged, seeking to take over the world. You’ll fight against this rising darkness by gathering resources, commanding an army of monsters, and playing through one of six unique story campaigns.
Besides the main story campaigns, the game features a Mission Mode where you can play as 24 different factions, each with its own specific goals to achieve.
The developer says this game offers endless replay value, and it looks like it will really satisfy fans of strategy role-playing games.
Look, nothing will ever quite match Fire Emblem when it comes to this, but the cool thing is some of the people who made Fire Emblem are now working on this game! So, it’s got a really good chance of becoming the next best tactical RPG on the PS5, honestly.
