The long-awaited Jason Universe has arrived, introducing a thrilling thirteen and a half minute teaser titled “Sweet Revenge“. This sneak peek is bound to excite fans of the Friday the 13th series, as it almost perfectly replicates the atmosphere of the original four films. The score also features an innovative twist on Harry Manfredini’s classic music, reminiscent of his collaboration with Fred Mollin in “Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood“. Additionally, the depiction of Jason’s design is consistent with that seen in “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter“, differing from the more muscular portrayal by Kane Hodder or the taller version featured in “Freddy vs. Jason“.
The story, provided by Angry Orchard, introduces Eve, played exceptionally well by Ally Ioannides, along with her three companions who venture out to what seems like a peaceful waterfront cabin. Upon meeting the cabin’s owner, she learns about its tragic past, but dismisses it and later embarks on a relaxing canoe trip across Crystal Lake. After an unsettling encounter with Jason, Eve returns to the rental cabin to discover a devastating revelation, only for Jason to make another heart-wrenching appearance shortly after.
The movie was directed by Mike P. Nelson, who is set to revive the “Silent Night, Deadly Night” series later this year. Given that “Sweet Revenge” serves as a preview, it’s expected that this film will feature some creatively gruesome deaths.
In the coming years, the Jason Universe continues with “Crystal Lake”, a production by Peacock scheduled for release in 2026. This project is brought to us by Brad Caleb Kane, who is also jointly running IT: Welcome to Derry, where fans can look forward to the return of Bill Skarsgård’s chilling portrayal of Pennywise the Dancing Clown. On a separate note, Nelson’s “Silent Night, Deadly Night” will premiere in theaters on December 12th.
