Robert De Niro is famous for many unforgettable performances, and when people think of his best roles, they often picture characters like Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, Jake La Motta from Raging Bull, or the younger Vito Corleone in The Godfather Part II.
Throughout his impressive career, the actor is most known for playing one particular character: Jack Tiberius Byrnes.
Robert De Niro first played the character in 2000’s Meet the Parents, and later returned for the sequels Meet the Fockers (2004) and Little Fockers (2010). Now, over 25 years later, he’s appearing in another installment of the series.
Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, and Owen Wilson are all back for another film, reprising their roles from the previous three movies. Joining them is Ariana Grande, and John Hamburg, who previously co-wrote the earlier films, is directing this time.
Now that the first trailer is out, you’re probably wondering when the movie will be released. Here’s everything you need to know.

The movie Focker-in-Law is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, November 25, 2026. As of today, that’s still over six months away.
Filming for the movie happened last year, starting in August and wrapping up in early November.

Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, and Owen Wilson are all returning to play their iconic characters – Jack Byrnes, Greg Focker, and Kevin Rawley, respectively. Teri Polo and Blythe Danner will also reprise their roles as Pam Byrnes Focker and Dina Byrnes.
Skyler Gisondo, known for his role in Superman, will now play Henry Focker, the son of Greg and Pam. Beanie Feldstein from Booksmart will play his twin sister, Samantha. These roles were previously held by Colin Baiocchi and Daisy Tahan when they were younger.
The biggest news is the addition of pop star and Oscar-nominated actress Ariana Grande to the cast. She’ll play Olivia Jones, a former FBI hostage negotiator who is also Henry’s girlfriend and possibly his future wife. It seems her character will be central to the plot of the new movie.
Stranger Things star Eduardo Franco has also been cast in an undisclosed role.
Focker-in-Law plot: what will happen?
We don’t have an official synopsis for the film at this stage – with the only details revealed so far being a very brief tagline that simply reads “The circle of trust just got bigger.”
Okay, so from what I’ve gathered, Ariana Grande’s character is going to be trying really hard to become part of this pretty quirky family. I’m guessing that means we’ll see a lot of funny or awkward moments as she gets used to how they do things – like, some sort of ‘welcome to the family’ tests, probably!
We’ll post a more comprehensive synopsis when we get it.
