Food Network Reveals Beloved Series Has Been Canceled After 40 Seasons

The Kitchen is set to plate its last meal.

After twelve years, Food Network’s weekend talk show featuring Sunny Anderson, Jeff Mauro, Geoffrey Zakarian, and Katie Lee will conclude in December.

The Food Network announced on Instagram that #TheKitchen will air its last episode on Saturday, December 13th, after 40 seasons and over 500 episodes. The post, which featured hosts and guest host Alex Guarnaschelli, expressed gratitude to the show’s hosts, crew, guests, and viewers for over ten wonderful years. The network invited fans to join them for one last holiday season of #TheKitchen and thanked them for watching, cooking, and being part of the show’s community.

Katie, who has hosted the show since it began in 2014, described her time on *The Kitchen* as a great “honor.”

Katie announced the end of her time on *The Kitchen* with a heartfelt message on Instagram. She expressed deep gratitude to the show’s fans, calling it the biggest honor of her career and saying she’ll always cherish the experience.

Chef Marc Murphy, a frequent guest and fellow Food Network star, shared his congratulations, calling the show “one of my favorites to watch and be a part of,” and praising the team as “legends.”

Ross Matthews, Sunny’s colleague on *The Drew Barrymore Show*, also praised the show’s impact, saying he loved the show and everyone involved. He congratulated the cast and the entire behind-the-scenes team on their excellent work.

Before the show’s cancellation was announced, Sunny, Jeff, Geoffrey, Katie, and Alex went to the New York City Wine & Food Festival on October 18th. Following a cooking demonstration with his colleague, Jeff enthusiastically shared details about his close friendship with Geoffrey.

He shared that he and Geoffrey are very close friends, saying Geoffrey texts him daily. He also mentioned how much Geoffrey’s relationship with his late father meant to him, as they got along wonderfully. Losing his father earlier this year has been difficult, and he’s especially grateful for Geoffrey’s support during this time, noting that it’s shown him what a genuinely good person Geoffrey is.

Even though the show is about to finish, the network highlighted its achievements over the past twelve years.

According to Betsy Ayala, head of food content at Variety, ‘The Kitchen’ has delighted viewers for over ten years with the unique culinary perspectives and humor of its hosts – Sunny, Katie, Jeff, Geoffrey, and Alex. She described the show as the perfect place for lively conversation, laughter, and good food, just like a great party. After twelve seasons and many cherished memories, the team decided to celebrate their accomplishments with one last holiday special.
