Forget Doctor Strange, Marvel Officially Crowns Scarlet Witch the Most Powerful Sorcerer Supreme Of All Time

Doctor Strange is well-known as the current Sorcerer Supreme, a title with a history stretching back over a million years to the time of Agamotto. However, he’s no longer the most powerful. Many individuals have held the title over the centuries – some were benevolent, others not – but all were exceptionally skilled. Merlin was once the Sorcerer Supreme, and Doctor Doom recently held the position. Now, though, Scarlet Witch has demonstrated that she surpasses them all in magical ability.

As a longtime fan, I’m really excited about the latest developments! Usually, the Sorcerer Supreme is chosen by these powerful beings called the Vishanti, and they’re the source of the magic. But Scarlet Witch actually became Sorcerer Supreme without their approval, and they’re not happy about it. They’ve even put Agatha Harkness up as someone to challenge her! It all comes to a head in Sorcerer Supreme #4, with art by Bernard Chang and Russell Dauterman, and writing by Ruth Redmond – Wanda Maximoff is finally going to confront the Vishanti themselves, and I can’t wait to see what happens!

Scarlet Witch Successfully Takes Down One of the Vishanti

Knowing their magical battle would be unlike anything seen before, Scarlet Witch brought her fight with Agatha to the empty planet Vesbios, hidden within the Quantum Realm. The Vishanti were shocked when Wanda not only won, but also threatened them with consequences if they didn’t free her friend, who was held by a powerful magical binding. Oshtur, the strongest of the Vishanti, stepped forward to meet Wanda’s challenge.

As a lifelong cinema fan, I was absolutely floored by the Scarlet Witch’s fight! She brilliantly led the battle to a dimension where her powers were at their peak, and then unleashed this incredible blast – a single, unexpected attack fueled by the very essence of creation. It literally shattered the planet and defeated Oshtur instantly. What made it so amazing is that, as far as Sorcerers Supreme go, it’s something we’ve never seen before. Every other Sorcerer Supreme relied on the Vishanti for their magic, but Wanda just blew past that – she’s on a whole other level!

There May Be Consequences For Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch just accomplished something amazing: she defeated one of the Elder Gods – incredibly powerful beings who existed long before humans. While other Sorcerers Supreme have also fought Elder Gods, they usually relied on the Elder God’s own power to win, and even then, it was a close call. Despite this huge victory, it seems like there will be some serious repercussions.

Details for June’s issue of Sorcerer Supreme #7 reveal that Scarlet Witch will encounter Turin, the Sorcerer Supreme of the Quantum Realm. Apparently, each dimension has its own Sorcerer Supreme, and Wanda’s fight with Oshtur resulted in the destruction of a planet Turin was protecting. While the cover art suggests a possible romance, the official description implies Turin is untrustworthy, likely because he realizes worlds under his care are now at risk due to Scarlet Witch’s actions.
