Forget the Young Avengers, the MCU Has Been Setting Up This Other New Avengers Team

The Young Avengers seem poised to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we’re also hoping to see another team of young heroes come to life on screen. With the Avengers back after a six-year break following Avengers: Endgame, and now led by two different teams—Captain America and Black Widow—Marvel is hinting at several new groups, including the West Coast Avengers, the Midnight Sons, and the Young Avengers. However, fans are eager for even more team options!

In recent years, Marvel Studios has been introducing characters who could become the next Young Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Potential members include Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), Stature (Cassie Lang), Ironheart (Riri Williams), America Chavez, Wiccan (Billy Maximoff), and Speed (Tommy Maximoff), who will reappear in the 2026 series VisionQuest. While rumors suggest these heroes will team up in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel may be quietly building the foundation for a different Young Avengers team inspired by the comic books.

Marvel Studios Has Secretly Been Setting Up the Next Avengers

Beyond the Young Avengers, Marvel Studios might introduce the Next Avengers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This team is made up of the superpowered children of the original Avengers. They first appeared in a 2008 animated film and included characters like James Rogers (son of Captain America and Black Widow), Francis Barton (son of Hawkeye and Mockingbird), Henry Pym Jr. (son of Giant-Man and the Wasp), Azari T’Challa (son of Black Panther and Storm), and Torunn Thorsdóttir (daughter of Thor and Lady Sif). While originally from a different reality, some of these characters have already appeared within the MCU.

Though we haven’t seen direct copies of the original Avengers’ powers, several of their children are already part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and could become the next generation of heroes. Tony Stark’s daughter, Morgan, might become a new armored hero, hinted at when she wore the Rescue helmet in Endgame. Thor recently adopted Love, the resurrected daughter of his enemy Gorr, who possesses incredible cosmic powers. And Hawkeye’s three children, particularly Lila Barton who showed promise as a skilled archer in Endgame, could also follow in their father’s footsteps.

The Disney+ show She-Hulk: Attorney at Law introduced Skaar, the son of Bruce Banner’s Hulk, and hinted that Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Peggy Carter may have had children after retiring. This opens the door to a potential new team of heroes – the Next Avengers – which could include the children of other Marvel characters like the new Black Panther, Cassie Lang, Billy and Tommy Maximoff, Franklin Richards, and X-23. While many fans are hoping to see the Young Avengers assemble, the Next Avengers would be a great fit for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Why the Next Avengers Are the Perfect New Superhero Team (Not the Young Avengers)

When the Young Avengers eventually return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they’ll likely be older than fans remember—Kate Bishop has already stated she was 23 in The Marvels, and that was two years ago in the MCU timeline. This creates a need for a team of genuinely young heroes who can bring a fresh energy and attract a new, younger audience. A ‘Next Avengers’ team, potentially including some of the heroes already introduced, would be ideal to fill this gap.

Introducing the Next Avengers on Earth-616 would beautifully link the current Marvel Cinematic Universe back to the original Avengers team from 2012. Currently, only Thor, Bruce Banner, and Hawkeye remain from that initial lineup, with Thor already confirmed for the upcoming Doomsday film and Banner expected to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Although Robert Downey Jr. is now playing Doctor Doom and there’s speculation about Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson potentially returning, it would be fantastic to see the legacies of these heroes continue through their children.

We’ve already seen hints that characters like Morgan Stark and Lila Barton will develop superpowers, and others, such as Love and Skaar, are already naturally gifted. The Next Avengers team – a group originally featured in a 2010 animated movie and comics – could be introduced using the multiverse, potentially creating surprising family combinations. Ultimately, we hope to see the Next Avengers join the ranks of young heroes in the MCU.
