Okay, so this is kinda crazy. Remember Immortals Fenyx Rising? That Ubisoft open-world game from 2023? Well, it’s suddenly back in the top 100 most-played games on PlayStation Network! I was checking the charts and it’s at number 80, right up there with games like Final Fantasy XIV, The Witcher 3, and NBA 2K25. It’s not just a fluke either – something’s definitely causing people to jump back in and play it.
Ubisoft is best known for its major franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and games bearing the Tom Clancy name. While they occasionally succeed with licensed properties, recent attempts haven’t been very successful. Star Wars Outlaws is a prime example, but Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is another often overlooked case.
One of the Best Looking PS5 Games
Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, developed by Massive Entertainment (known for The Division and, more recently, a disappointing Star Wars game), launched on December 7, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. While the game received a mixed reception, earning a 72 on Metacritic, many players were impressed by its visuals. However, sales were reportedly lower than expected considering the game’s budget and the popularity of the Avatar franchise. This initially led to doubts about a sequel. But the recent release of Avatar: Fire and Ash has sparked renewed interest in the world of Pandora and the potential for future installments.
So, there isn’t an official list of the most-played PS5 games, but I found a pretty cool unofficial one from PS Time Tracker. It’s based on players who choose to share their playtime, but they have a ton of data. And right now, looking at the last 30 days, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is sitting at number 80 on their list. People are really getting into it – the average play session is about an hour and 37 minutes!
It’s unlikely Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will remain popular for long, but it’s currently available on the PlayStation Store for a reduced price of $29.99 – down from its original $60 launch price. While it’s not included with PS Plus, owners of the PS5 Pro can enjoy enhanced visuals and performance.
