Previously employed at Bethesda and renowned as an authority on Elder Scrolls lore, Kurt Kuhlmann has expressed doubts about two possible settings for what could be The Elder Scrolls 7. Despite the fact that the sixth game in the Elder Scrolls series has yet to come out, some are already speculating about its successor.
It seems almost inevitable that there will be an Elder Scrolls 7 at some point, given the game’s enduring appeal among players. However, due to the ongoing enigma surrounding The Elder Scrolls 6 and Bethesda’s current development plans (with Fallout and Starfield in the mix), it might be several decades before we see Elder Scrolls 7. As for the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6, despite persistent rumors pointing towards Hammerfell, fans are still left guessing.
According to an interview with Kiwi Talks, Kurt Kuhlmann, a former employee at Bethesda, speculates that The Elder Scrolls 7 might not feature Elsweyr or Black Marsh because these regions are primarily inhabited by lizard-like Khajiit and cat-like Argonian races. He suggests that it could be challenging for the game to focus on areas dominated by such anthropomorphic species, finding it more unusual compared to human populated regions.
Former Bethesda Dev Doesn’t Believe Elsweyr or Black Marsh Will Be Elder Scrolls 7’s Setting
It’s worth mentioning that Kuhlmann is expressing his personal thoughts in this context. While there’s a possibility that an upcoming Elder Scrolls game could focus on Elweyr or Black Marsh, depending on whether Bethesda can find the right equilibrium, some arguments against it seem convincing. In truth, fans will likely be left with speculation about The Elder Scrolls 7 for at least a decade. Hearing insights from people who might understand Bethesda’s creative process is always intriguing.
In my gaming world, the majority of inhabitants are either lizard-folk or cat-people. That definitely adds an unusual twist compared to the usual human-populated realms I’ve explored before.
Apart from “The Elder Scrolls,” Bethesda has a lot more projects in their pipeline. The studio is undoubtedly working on “The Elder Scrolls 6,” but there’s talk that “Fallout 5” has been given the go-ahead. It’s not surprising that they are considering the next main “Fallout” game after “The Elder Scrolls 6,” but it’s uncertain if both projects will be in active development simultaneously.
