Former Marvel Star Jonathan Majors Falls Through Window on Movie Set (And Crew is Now Striking Over Safety Concerns)

Jonathan Majors, previously known for his role at Marvel, is attempting to restart his acting career with a new action movie being filmed in South Carolina. Production was recently halted, however, when crew members went on strike. The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) cited labor issues and, more specifically, serious safety concerns as the reason for the walkout, and further details about these concerns have now been revealed.

Last week, filming on the movie was halted when Jonathan Majors and his co-star, JC Kilcoyne, unexpectedly fell out of a window. According to Deadline, a window used in a scene had been temporarily replaced with a sheet of tempered glass that wasn’t properly secured. This glass was intended to be broken later during a stunt performed by professionals, not the actors. Both Majors and Kilcoyne fell about six feet to the ground after falling through the loose window. Kilcoyne needed stitches for injuries to his hands. A video from Deadline shows the crew reacting with shock and warning the actors about the broken glass.

Work on the Film Reportedly Continues (But Crew Has Had Other Concerns As Well)

While the film is being presented as a return for Woody Harrelson’s character, Majors hasn’t spoken about the reported on-set incident. Kilcoyne has gone back to work, and his representatives say he’s doing well and continues to enjoy working on the movie. However, other issues have been raised about safety on set, including reports of props falling and the presence of mold. There were also early worries about health insurance for the crew, as actors have separate coverage through their union.

Even after the incident, filming is still happening, and the strike doesn’t seem to be causing any problems right now. Producer Dallas Sonnier dismissed the strike as unfair and stated they were too focused on production to worry about it.

Sonnier stated that they were focused on the action-packed aspects of their work – like stunts, explosions, and fighting fictional villains – and didn’t have time to worry about protesters and their demonstration.
