Xbox Game Pass Is Losing Its Best Game at the Worst Possible Time

Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members are about to lose access to a highly-rated game, and it’s happening at a particularly disappointing time. The game has a Metacritic score of 97, making it one of the best games ever made, and it’s become a mainstream hit – it’s the second best-selling game of all time with 225 million copies sold. Because it’s been released on multiple generations of consoles, many Game Pass subscribers have likely already played – and even owned – it at some point.

Many Xbox Game Pass subscribers have likely played Grand Theft Auto V, so it’s bad timing that it’s leaving the service on April 15th, just before GTA 6 comes out later this year. With the new game on the horizon, a lot of players will probably want to replay GTA 5 to get ready or simply enjoy the Grand Theft Auto world. Unfortunately, GTA 5 won’t be available on Game Pass during this time, and this is likely intentional. While GTA 5 has been added to the service before and will probably return eventually, it won’t be back before GTA 6 launches. This means there are currently no Grand Theft Auto games available on Xbox Game Pass, which makes the removal of GTA 5 particularly disappointing.

Highest-Rated Xbox Game Pass Game

While many focused on a game leaving Xbox Game Pass, it’s worth noting that Perfect Dark from 2000 remains available and is now the highest-rated game on the service. However, when compared to Grand Theft Auto 5, GTA 5‘s high rating is more noteworthy. This is because it’s based on a larger number of reviews and the game is significantly more popular. Often, games that become huge commercial successes have to compromise on quality to appeal to a wider audience, which can impact critical reception. GTA 5 is rare – it’s one of the few games that has achieved both massive sales and widespread critical acclaim.

Even though GTA 5 is still playable on Xbox Game Pass until April 15th, subscribers get a special 20% discount if they decide to buy the game. This could be a good option for anyone wanting to experience it before GTA 6 comes out.
