Before Xbox’s presentation in Tokyo, details about the new Forza Horizon 6 seem to have been revealed early – someone might be in trouble! For a long time, fans have guessed – and been excited about – the possibility of the game taking place in Japan. A recent post on Instagram suggests that rumor is true. Let’s take a look at what the advertisement showed before the Tokyo Games Showcase begins.
Horizon heads to Japan
The advertisement starts subtly, holding back on specifics. The camera then focuses on a Japanese lucky cat, known as a maneki-neko, which is a ceramic figure traditionally believed to bring good luck.
A butterfly flies by a *maneki-neko* (lucky cat), briefly displaying the Japanese word for “Legend.” The advertisement then shows the butterfly fluttering out an open window, revealing a scenic Japanese view featuring Mount Fuji, accompanied by the sound of a revving engine.

The Xbox showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2025 will begin on Thursday, September 25th at 7:00 PM in Japan. For those in other time zones, that’s 3:00 AM Pacific Time, 6:00 AM Eastern Time, 11:00 AM British Summer Time, and 12:00 PM Central European Summer Time.
Fans have wanted a Japan setting in the game for a long time, and it seems like that wish will soon be granted. Rumors about Japan being a possible location have circulated since the release of Forza Horizon 4, which took place in Britain.
Japan is now among the countries – including the U.S., Australia, Mexico, and several European nations – getting the special ‘Horizon’ experience. I’m really excited to see what the developers at Playground Games do with it.
So, what are your thoughts? Are you happy with the choice of Japan as the setting, or were you hoping for somewhere else? Japan has been a highly requested location ever since the original Horizon game, so most fans should be thrilled with this news.
