Housemarque is a veteran game developer known for creating visually stunning games. They consistently push the limits of gaming hardware, filling their titles with impressive effects and a vibrant, energetic style.
Saros, a new shooting game coming only to PlayStation 5, appears to be pushing the console to its limits. This is the first game developed by the studio since being acquired by PlayStation Studios (shortly after releasing Returnal), and it’s designed to take full advantage of both the PS5 and the upcoming PS5 Pro.
The game looks noticeably better than the last one, and gameplay footage shows it running very smoothly.
Plus, Saros is shaping up to be a first-party game that will really showcase everything the console can do, as highlighted in the latest trailer.
The game, a third-person shooter with roguelite elements, will fully utilize the DualSense controller’s features, such as its realistic vibrations and adjustable triggers.
You’ll get truly immersive 3D sound when using headphones, which is a feature most game developers aren’t heavily promoting right now.
PS5’s speedy SSD will mean near-instant load times.
I was seriously blown away by how well all the PlayStation 5’s features came together in Returnal. It really felt like the game was made for the system, and I’m hoping the next game feels just as perfectly suited to the platform.
They didn’t talk about PS5 Pro support in the video, but Saros is confirmed to get it, which is awesome. What really has me hyped is that this is the first game from a PlayStation Studio to come out since PSSR 2 launched. I’m guessing Housemarque is going to really leverage that tech, and I’m hoping we get more details on how soon!
Returnal was long considered a prime example of a game that truly showcased the PS5’s capabilities, but the upcoming game Saros has the potential to take that title. We’re excited to see if it does!
The game is due on 30th April. Are you excited for Saros? Tell us in the comments section below.
