A new free horror game is available on Steam and is getting good feedback from players. It’s designed with a style reminiscent of classic PlayStation 1 horror games, so fans of that era will likely enjoy it. While it’s a short and simple indie game, the fact that it’s completely free makes it worth a look.
Kooky Kontent has released a new, free horror game called The December Job. It’s a Christmas-themed experience, so while the holiday season is ending, it might be perfect for anyone still enjoying their decorations and wanting to extend the festive spirit a little longer.
PS1-Style Horror Game Earning Positive Reviews
This new PC game intentionally looks like a PlayStation 1 game from the 90s, with simple graphics and blurry textures, even though it was released in 2025. This retro style is actually quite popular among indie horror game developers, many of whom are trying to capture the feeling of what many consider the golden age of horror gaming.
So, I’ve been checking out the new release, and honestly, it nails the late 90s feel they were aiming for. It’s getting a “Very Positive” rating on Steam – which is awesome, by the way – because about 90% of players are digging it!
I was really surprised by how much fun this game was, especially since it’s the developer’s first try! Seriously, the Elf’s voice acting was amazing – a perfect 10/10 blend of horror and comedy. It’s a little rough around the edges, but honestly, that adds to the charm. I found myself hooked, and I definitely want to see more from this dev! Another player said it was actually fun and super addicting, and I totally agree!
The game is a scary, stealth-based experience played from a first-person perspective. You’re trying to find presents in a complicated, workshop maze, but there’s a catch: Santa is extremely angry and will try to stop you – permanently.
Steam Deck users will need to download the free PC game and see if it works, as Valve hasn’t yet confirmed compatibility. The good news is it’s a free game, so you won’t lose any money by trying it out.
