For the next 3 days, you can grab a free PS4 game from the PlayStation Store without any cost. After that, it will no longer be accessible. For the past seven years, this game has been available on the store for both PS4 and PS4 Pro users. The reason behind its removal isn’t clear, but it might be due to increased expenses in maintaining the servers and supporting the game on last-generation PlayStation consoles, as revenue generated from these platforms may not cover these costs. Running game servers and ensuring security are both costly endeavors.
The game under discussion, available for free on PS4, is Armored Warfare – a multiplayer vehicle combat title currently managed by Wishlist Games following transfers from My.Games and Obsidian Entertainment, the original creators. Wishlist Games also distribute this game. Launched in 2015 initially as a PC exclusive, it was eventually made available on Xbox One and PS4 in 2018. Despite not being officially supported on newer consoles like the Xbox Series S, X, or PS5, you can still play it on these systems thanks to backward compatibility.
2025 finds us unsure about how many players on PS4 are still engaged with Armored Warfare, but based on data from the PlayStation Store, it seems that numerous gamers have given it a try over time. As evidence of its popularity, the game has accumulated more than 57,000 user reviews on the PlayStation Store – quite an impressive number. Across all these reviews, Armored Warfare has earned an average rating of 3.87 out of 5, demonstrating a good response from players.
Players using PS4 or PS5 who want to try out Armored Warfare from the PlayStation Network (PSN) before it’s taken offline should remember they’ll need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play. Interestingly, it was the game’s listing on the PlayStation Store that disclosed this shutdown, with no official announcement made yet. However, an update to the store listing now includes the message: “Important notice: the game will be closed on July 30.” As always, we’ll keep you posted if any new information arises regarding this matter.
