Developer Tower Five, creators of the game “Empire of the Ants”, has unveiled a new title called “Loaders”. This free-to-play, multiplayer shooter pits teams of ten against each other and is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and both Steam and Epic Games Store. A specific launch date has yet to be disclosed.
Tower Five co-founder Renaud Charpentier stated in a press release that “Loaders” is a long-time passion project for them, stemming from their aim to deliver an authentic tactical experience where strategic thinking and swift decision-making outshine rapid reactions. They’ve designed a challenging, fluid battlefield with unique variations in each match, where the decisions made by each player significantly matter. It’s not about sprinting and shooting; it’s about predicting, outsmarting, and prevailing through tactical planning and smart gameplay.
Here is an overview of the game, via Tower Five:
About
Loaders is a free-to-play tactical 10-versus-10 player-versus-player shooter.
In a dystopian war-ravaged future, the game Loaders immerses players in fierce, merciless conflicts. Every choice, every bullet fired, and every strategic move could mean life or death.
A Brutal Future Built on Synapse and Steel
In the year 2525, humanity is struggling due to a devastating disease known as the Red Plague. From their space stations, powerful entities known as Houses engage in proxy wars, not for honor but for a precious resource – Gold. This element isn’t used for propulsion; instead, it powers translocation, the only technology that allows humans to bypass light-speed and maintain connections across the cosmos. Each use of this technology consumes Gold. Without Gold, there can be no travel. Without these Houses, there is no civilization. You are a Loader: a human mind transferred into an anti-gravity tank, designed to be sacrificed, rebuilt, and sent back into conflict wherever Gold is discovered, for conflict always follows its trail. There are no legends here, only contracts, steel, and the struggle for survival.
Key Features
- Fully Destructible Environments – The battlefield is your weapon. Players can blast through rocks, shatter walls, reshape dunes, or widen chokepoints, dynamically altering the flow of combat in real time. Cover is temporary, and no defense is permanent, demanding constant adaptation.
- Tactical 10-Versus-10 Arena Battles – Engage in intense 20-player matches where teams of Loaders vie for dominance. The objective is clear: eliminate the enemy or destroy their pylon—a jamming system hiding them from devastating orbital strikes. Protect your own pylon or face annihilation from above.
- Build Your Loadout, Define Your Role – Players can customize their antigrav tanks from the ground up. Choose from 5 distinct classes, each with unique movement, shield, and role types. Equip up to 4 active and 5 passive modules, alongside a unique splitter system, allowing for intricate, ever-evolving builds.
- Shields: Position Matters – Your Loader’s regenerating shields are critical, covering key angles. Any breach exposes your vulnerable hull. Strategic positioning, flanking maneuvers, and striking weak points are paramount for survival. Trading fire head-on is a losing proposition.
- Deliberate, Tactical Pacing – Loaders emphasizes momentum and calculated decisions over rapid-fire reflexes. With a high time-to-kill, inertial movement, and no respawns, every shot carries weight. Players must choose their angles, time their approach, and make tactical decisions before engaging, not after.
