The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End premiered in January, as part of the Winter 2026 anime season. Although this season is shorter than fans hoped, it’s expected to cover the ‘Continued Northern Travels’ and ‘Divine Revolte’ story arcs. The series follows Frieren and her companions as they head north, now with Fern officially recognized as a First-Class Mage. This part of their journey is particularly dangerous, and travel through the area is restricted to parties that include someone with that level of magical ability. Season 2 began airing on January 16th, 2026, with new subtitled episodes released on Crunchyroll every Friday at 7:00 AM Pacific Time, shortly after they air in Japan. The English dub is delayed and will become available on February 6th.
Currently, Season 2 is scheduled for 10 episodes, and it’s unclear if there will be another part. Netflix is only showing the new season in certain Asian countries, and they haven’t published a complete list of where it’s available. Viewers in the US might get it a few weeks after it finishes airing, or once all episodes are released. Because Season 1 is already on Netflix, Season 2 will likely be added eventually, though it could take some time.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Turned a Single Panel Into a Hilarious Scene

The new season got off to a fantastic start, and the show continues to win over fans with each new episode. Last week’s episode, Season 2 Episode 3, featured a surprisingly funny scene of Frieren having a tantrum – a nearly 30-second clip that quickly went viral. Popular social media accounts shared the clip, enjoying the show’s unexpected comedic moments. While the series is generally calm and peaceful, it occasionally delivers these bursts of humor.
Viewers love moments that make characters feel more real and relatable. Frieren, who is over a thousand years old, surprisingly has a goofy and endearing side that often shines through. A scene where she’s shown crying is actually a quick look back at her adventures with Himmel’s group. She cried continuously for three days and nights while her companions watched, and even Himmel was taken aback by her intense reaction.
The anime expands on a particularly poignant memory for Frieren, a moment that originally appeared as just a single panel in the manga. That panel simply showed Frieren crying, with her companions unable to understand what was happening. The anime beautifully stretches out this scene, adding humor by showing Frieren’s restless movements as she processes her emotions. While the reason for her sadness hasn’t been revealed, this moment remains incredibly impactful for both Frieren and the show’s fans.
