Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End hasn’t started its main storyline yet, but it’s currently focusing on smaller stories that fans have been eager to see. The show follows Frieren, Fern, and Stark as they travel and overcome challenges, giving us a better understanding of who they are and making us care about them more. We’re seeing the characters grow in terms of their abilities, maturity, and emotions. Throughout the series, a particular element has been hinted at, but hasn’t been fully developed until now.
Viewers started picking up on a cute connection between Stark and Fern as they got to know each other, noticing a subtle romantic tension. The first season hinted at this with sweet, playful moments, and even another character playfully urged them to start dating. However, the show then focused on a different storyline, leaving their relationship on the back burner. Now, in the current season, as the story progresses, Stark finally asks Fern on a date, suggesting their romance will become a bigger part of the series going forward.
Frieren Season 2 Finally Explores the Romance Element

In the latter part of the recent episode, the group reaches a new town where Frieren intends to stay for a few days. This upsets Fern, who feels left out and asks Stark for attention. Stark playfully suggests a date to entertain her, and she accepts, leaving him unsure if she’s serious or just teasing him. The episode then shows Stark and Frieren exploring the town, with Frieren offering Stark advice on how to make the date with Fern go well. While the date doesn’t happen in this episode, a brief preview confirms it will be featured in the next one.
The latest preview suggests Fern is dressed up for a date with Stark, which he notices, and she asks where they’re going. The next episode of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 will be split into two parts, with the first part focusing on this date and how Stark and Fern’s relationship grows. While Frieren has been a fantastic action-fantasy series, it’s exciting to see romance become a bigger part of the story, and it will be interesting to see how the show develops this element, which has always been subtly present.
