The announcement of The Duskbloods, a new game from FromSoftware designed exclusively for the Switch 2, was a major highlight of Nintendo’s first big presentation in 2025. Many fans expected to see it featured in the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, but it wasn’t shown, leading to concerns about whether the game was still in development. While details have been scarce since its initial announcement last year, recent information confirms that The Duskbloods is still scheduled to release in 2026.
So, Kadokawa, the company that owns FromSoftware, just dropped their latest financial report. It’s mostly for investors, but they usually give us a peek at what’s coming up. And good news for Switch fans – it looks like The Duskbloods is still aiming for a 2026 release on the Switch 2! As a huge fan of Dark Souls and Elden Ring, I’m really excited to hear that the game is still on track. It’s great to know we’ll probably be getting another awesome game from them in the next couple of years.
Recent Earnings Report Confirms FromSoftware Still Plans to Release The Duskbloods This Year
Page 15 of the 37-page report, within a business overview of the gaming division, reveals that FromSoftware is still planning to release both Elden Ring Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. While we were already aware of these projects, the report specifically confirms the 2026 release window, suggesting they remain on track despite limited recent updates.
Originally planned for a 2025 release on the Switch 2, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has been delayed. While there’s no firm date yet, it’s now expected sometime in 2026. More surprisingly, The Duskbloods, despite not receiving many updates, is still expected to launch as planned.
Since it was first shown, The Duskbloods has been a sensitive topic for fans. Many people initially believed the game’s dark and violent imagery meant a new Bloodborne was coming. However, FromSoftware is actually creating a completely new vampire-themed game for the Switch 2. Even though it’s been almost a year since the initial announcement, we still don’t know much about the game. We saw a short preview at The Game Awards, but FromSoftware hasn’t shared many details since then.

Fans were surprised when FromSoftware didn’t present anything at February’s Nintendo Direct, leading many to believe their game, The Duskbloods, was further off than anticipated. A 2024 release seemed likely, so the lack of a reveal raised concerns. However, reports now indicate The Duskbloods is still aiming for a 2026 launch. If so, we can likely expect more information and promotional material in the coming months to generate excitement for this Switch 2 exclusive, which is inspired by the *Soulslike genre.
