Okay, so 11 bit studios just announced they’re bringing the original Frostpunk to the Switch! That’s awesome news for anyone who wants to build a city in a frozen wasteland on the go. They haven’t said when it’s coming out yet, though, which is a bit frustrating, but still – Frostpunk on Switch! I’m excited.
Jakub Stokalski, lead designer of Frostpunk, recently shared his excitement about the game coming to Nintendo Switch. He explained that Frostpunk is a game where your difficult choices and their consequences stay with you, and now you’ll be able to experience that weight of responsibility on the go. As someone who worked on both the original game and its sequel, Stokalski says bringing Frostpunk to a wider audience feels like a dream and a fitting end to the game’s development journey. The Switch version will include all the gameplay and tough moral decisions that made the original a beloved classic.
Frostpunk was originally released on PC on April 24, 2018, and later came to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 11, 2019, with a mobile version for iOS and Android launching on October 29, 2024. A revamped edition called Frostpunk 1886, featuring significant new content, is currently in development.
