The new horror movie, The Strangers – Chapter 3, hits theaters next month, and a new trailer gives a sneak peek at the frightening events to come. Director Renny Harlin has created a unique trilogy where all three films connect as one long, intense experience, with each movie continuing directly after the last. The trailer suggests that Maya, played by Madelaine Petsch, won’t just be running from danger—she may be forced to fight back to survive. The Strangers – Chapter 3 will be released on February 6th.
Lionsgate describes the new movie:
The final installment of The Strangers series sees Maya (Madelaine Petsch) confronting the masked attackers in a violent showdown, bringing her story of survival and revenge to a complete conclusion.
Gabriel Basso, Ema Horvath, and Richard Brake all also star in the sequel.
A New Take on Terror

Lionsgate
Many beloved horror films have been revisited over the years, but the new trilogy based on The Strangers is one of the most boldly expansive recent attempts.
Bryan Bertino’s 2008 film featured Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a couple seeking solace in a secluded cabin after a difficult proposal. Their relationship issues quickly became secondary when a woman appeared at their door late at night, asking for someone named Tamara before vanishing. Soon after, the couple found themselves terrorized by a group of masked intruders who seemed to be targeting them simply because they were home.
The 2018 sequel, The Strangers: Prey at Night, shifted the setting to a deserted trailer park where a family unexpectedly spent the night, only to be terrorized by the same type of masked attackers. Aside from the attackers’ familiar masks and unclear reasons for their actions, the two films don’t really share a story.

Because the original idea is so frightening, fans would likely welcome any new version. However, instead of completely changing the story, Harlin’s three movies build upon what came before, turning a single scary night into a multi-day chase that feels relentless. Harlin previously told Variety what drew him to the concept:
I wasn’t interested in simply revisiting the original film with a remake or sequel. I have a lot of respect for the first movie and felt it was incredibly well-made, which was a little daunting. But this project offered a unique chance to deeply explore the impact of violent crime – looking at the experiences of victims, understanding the motivations of those who commit these acts, and examining the long-term effects on everyone involved, over a substantial four-and-a-half-hour format.
Just saw the latest trailer for The Strangers – Chapter 3, and let me tell you, it hints at a seriously intense fight for survival for Maya. Honestly, based on these snippets, I’m bracing myself for a ton of shocking twists and turns – this movie seems like it’s going to throw everything at us.
