Hiromu Arakawa, a renowned figure in the anime world, gained this status for valid reasons. Known as the creator of the Elric Brothers and their realm in the cherished series Fullmetal Alchemist, Arakawa’s career didn’t end with the conclusion of that alchemy story. Currently, Arakawa is immersed in a fresh manga project titled Daemons Of The Shadow Realm. It’s high time we share exciting news: this series is making its way onto screens! Crunchyroll has revealed that not only will the latest series be animated, but it will be produced by the same studio that brought Edward Elric to life.
In a fresh announcement, Crunchyroll unveiled that the manga “Daemons of the Shadow Realm,” penned by Hiromu Arakawa (known for “Fullmetal Alchemist”), will be adapted into an anime. The highly esteemed Studio BONES (renowned for hits like “My Hero Academia,” “Gachiakuta,” and “Fullmetal Alchemist”) will oversee the project. Masahiko Minami, president of Studio BONES, stepped onto the stage to affirmatively announce that the anime production is underway. The series, described as a fantastical journey blending mystery and the supernatural, was teased in a new trailer during the panel. Catch a glimpse of this intriguing sneak peek below.
What is Daemons Of The Shadow Realm?
If you’re encountering Hiromu Arakawa’s latest manga for the first time, here’s a summary provided by publisher Square Enix about “Daemons of The Shadow Realm“. In this world, some people control powerful supernatural duos called Daemons. Born to rule these entities are the twins Yuru and Asa, who are unaware of their true origins and have been separated since childhood. Their journey to reunite, claim their birthright, and save the world unfolds. Nestled in the mountains, under the vigilant gaze of two stone statues, lies the secluded village of Higashi. While some villagers live differently, young Yuru prefers to spend his days foraging and hunting in the surrounding woods.
In 2021, “Daemons of The Shadow Realm” debuted its manga, several years after the ending of the Elric brothers’ storyline. Although this series isn’t connected to “Fullmetal Alchemist,” Arakawa’s distinctive art style is back in this new work. Before even being adapted into an anime, the series has already achieved significant milestones in manga sales, surpassing 3.5 million copies globally. It’s safe to say that the upcoming anime will create quite a stir in the anime community.
